ADSL IPC price cut desperately needed: ISP execs

Real bitstream in its traditional form, as in frame/cell interconnection/integration, is not going to miraculously make it cheaper.
Thanks, very interesting! The IPStream option does sound more feasable, surely Telkom must have some plans to upgrade to ASRs anyway sometime soon?

Slight deviation, but it has a bearing - does anyone know how 8ta's backhaul is routed and managed? i.e. through the same equipment as IPC or is it a seperate system/network?

iirc this is what ICASA want to force Telkom to do in the short term (i.e. now in 2012).

What will be most interesting is what the pricing and locations will be i.e. will it be as much as the IPConnect system (MWEB noted pricing to have a CT IPC was almost more expensive than to just use the JB one for all traffic) see http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadband/35888-mweb-ipc-adsl-costs-laid-bare.html
“This is unfortunately not the case,” said MWEB. “Telkom offers a 5% discount on the IPC costs for the additional POP in Cape Town, but the ISP’s total cost per month increases by total of 9%.”
