Hi guys

I got my 4mb line activated today and the stats are either really good or really bad, I can't remember which way round it goes. :o

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin : 28.5 db - 16.0 db
Line Attenuation : 8.5 db - 4.5 db
Data Rate : 4096 - 384 kbps

So how is that? It syncs at the full 4096kb, so it looks good enough.

Sorry for the noob questions with ADSL. :)

brilliant specs! - 28~ SNR for 4meg is great...

the future looks great for your line's performance, upgrades ect!

Super Grandmaster on iBurst for 2+ years. We just need wind speed and direction.

Great, so time to roll out 24MB ADSL2+ then Telkom. :D

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 384 kbps 128 kbps
Line Attenuation 12 db 3.5 db
Noise Margin 31 db 23 db

are these ok ? i thought i would ask too :D

How do these figures rate?

SNR Margin: 36 Down and 12 up
Line attenuation: 40.6 down and 20.5 up
Data rate: 640 Down and 384 up
Latency: FAST up and down

This is on a Microcom AD 2656 router on a Business512k link I think.

Thanks for any help

Mine are: 384 connection @ 384/128
Line Attenuation @ 52/31
Noise Margin @ 31/19

My figures are very different, yet I download at +- 46KB/s, with a ping on SGS COD4 of 59.

The attenuation and noise margin can't be that important then, can they?

should be able to get 4096 ...the attenuation is high - but not that high - you have a HEALTHY SNR margin - so i'm confident that 4096 should be stable.

Attenuation=very important! both are closely related!

for 384 with line attenuation 52 , if you bump to 512 - it should go around 53-54.

if you up to fixed 1024 - it might go 54-56...

so my 2c: 4096 might not be very stable.

Yeah, the line attenuation is what is expected on a 4 Meg. SNR is awesome tho!

Just moved into my new place, stats are as follows :)
Upstream 384 kbps
Downstream 4096 kbps
Noise Margin (Upstream) 16.0 db
Noise Margin (Downstream) 35.0 db
Attenuation (Upstream) 3.0 db
Attenuation (Downstream) 7.5 db

is this good or bad?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 54 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 6 db 13 db

^^

agreed - gaming might be a frustration.... - noise margin of 6 is sooooo close to resetting/resync

something is wrong there also - your line attenuation UP is low - a bit 2 LOW for justifying that 54 down...

my attenuation up channel :

Connection Speed 4096 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.0 db 31.5 db <-----
Noise Margin 10.5 db 12.0 db
