Hi,

I've recently upgrade my adsl line from r
384kbps to 4mbps (Mweb Uncapped + line from telkom) and every night for the past week I keep losing internet connection. If I reset my router I get internet back for 5 min. I've read on other threads that it maybe has to do with adsl+ or distance from the exchange(btw, I live in Villieria near frates weg and, how far am I from the exchange). But why who the internet go off only at night. Please help me, this problem is very annoying. Thanks

We can only give advice if you give your line stats such as SNR Margin and Line Attenuation. See if you can find them, if you can't post your router brand name and model.

your exchange is overloaded, probably reaches maximum capacity when everybody connects at night

Off hand I remember click on status and then adsl status

Hi Sebastian.s1994,

If your line is syncing on 4meg and it's not stable, then you can ask Telkom to drop it to 3meg and see if the connection is then stable. It could also be a congestion issue as stated by Grubscrew.

Send me your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Thanks for the replies, Sunday night I had no issues with the internet but I'll will check how it goes tonight and tomorrow and if it still gives problems, I'll phone Telkom

@MWEB Guy. I will pm you if it becomes unstable again tonight. Thanks

Hi have got my SNR Margin and Line Attenuation

SNR Margin(Upstream) 12 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 11.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 14.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 33.0 dB

Sebastian: with that line attenuation values you should be able to get like a very stable 6Mbps connection, if your ADSL modem is decent and your DSLAM/exchange/line is in perfect working order.

Your SNR margins are quite low if your modem is currently synchronizing at only 4Mbps, but 11dB should be enough for the line to be stable.
