I'm in the market for a new ADSL modem with WIFI.

I had some nasty experiences with Telkom modems before so I will most definitely not go that route again.

Anybody have a good recommendation on what would be a really good ADSL modem?

No but I have the TP-Link TD-W8970 and it works beautifully. :)

I have heard nothing but good things about TP-Link, I used to have a tiny TD-W8950ND, upgraded to the MWEB Fon and now my Archer D2 is at the courier which I will couple with a Archer T4UH adapter, I hope it's as good as I imagine it.

I have a telkom branded D-Link 2750U that is almost 3 years old I am interested in buying the TP-Link TD-W8970. My question is, will there be any network improvements? Like better ping or download and upload speeds?

Should I just keep my D-Link? because it's not giving me any issues that i know of.

I wouldn't buy the TD-W8970. For the same price you can get the Archer D2 which is a newer and better model.

Why don't you read Soul Assassin's review. :)

Can't seem to find it on Takealot.com, do you know of any retailers that sell it?
You could use my link in the second post of this thread or you could PM Kernel on this forum for a quote. :)

For under R550 I would have recommended the TP-Link TD-W8968 but I have literally gone though 3 of them in 2 years, from V2-V4 hardware revisions. They do have awesome configuration options and rate-limiting/bandwidth control features but they all would randomly hang for no reason (sometimes 5 times in 24-hours), other times working for weeks on end without hassle.

I finally got fed up and exchanged it for a bog-standard D-Link DSL-2740U. Sure it has't got all the features of the TP-Link but it has run flawlessly, without a hang or reboot, since I installed it 11 Sept 2015. It has crazy wi-fi range too for 5dBi antennas.

After 4 years of using tp-link I've given up with them, random disconnects between devices and other erratic issues, the best performance I got out of a tp-link router was after I installed dd-wrt on it, was rock solid for ages until it got taken out by lightning

Even the guys at uniterm struggled to try and resolve some of the issues I've had.

Now got an Asus router running with a Huawei modem, seems to be okay, not sure about the modem though

TP-Link Archer D2 AC750 is nice.
It has gigabit LAN ports and support AC wireless networking.

Hi

Is this router, http://www.google.com/url?q=http://...sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHZqPIgzmdLGxVAYLONoSq5eBCafA exactly the same as the Archer D2? Seeing that I could not find the Archer D2 router on takealot.com I sent them a mail and they responded with that link in the mail.
