ADSL pricing benchmarks: is Telkom competitive?

Telkom and cheap, I don't think they belong in the same sentence. They just want to make more profits and rip the users off.
Telkom is cheap, it's a cheap lousy company that sells it's cheap lousy services/products at obscene prices.

Did I miss a change in Telkom where you don't have to pay line rental anymore? I could swear I am on the cheapest possible Telkom account, and that is R300+R30(2GB). Confused..

Or is BT and HKBN also charging for line rental seperately?

Either case, I would love to be wrong about R300 being the cheapest way to get ADSL in your home, but until eitherwise shown I believe the article is punting some incorrect information

I can't believe that they would even think you could compare these packages. That's like comparing vinegar with dom perignon... Yes your entry level is slightly higher than the lowest price elsewhere, but you can't even offer 1/10th of the performance, let alone half!

Telkom - you FAIL

What did you expect from a Spin Doctor
This is the type of garbage they are paid to write
Telkom is and will be charging the maximum they can get away with
Same old Same old

WTF In Hongkong you can get a 100megabit uncapped. So how many more years till it comes here?

Never, since the ANC will have burned this country to ash before then.

The numbers:

If you live in SA, you're paying over 53,000 times what someone in Hong Kong pays for internet access that's over 266 times faster than SA's.

If you live in SA, you're paying over 747 times what someone in the UK pays for internet access that is over 53 times faster than SA's.

Yeah, Telkom, you're really competitive... competitive with S H I T, that is.

Forget it, rather you have relatively high chances to get job and permanent residency in <insert country with insanely cheap and fast broadband> than to get similar service in SA within distant future.

Your comparative stats includes the speed component twice. Telkom fares badly enough without any exaggeration required.

I don't think the ANC will have burned this country to ash before then. That sounds too efficient for them.

Who did Dr Armstrong do the presentation to and when? Maybe we can forward them a copy of the real comparison - after all, if you're unsophisticated enough, you may well believe Telkom's pretty pictures.

I think this article was just published to make all of us RAGE, about how Deep and hard Telkom is Actually Screwing us in the butt.... :-D

Telkom is fast, efficient and cheap - hang on, I see some friendly men in white coats with a huge needle are heading my way. Tx ICASA. I wonder what the CPA will be good for?
