ADSL problems taking long to be resolved?

Yay! ... seems like just about everybody in South Africa is on some kind of strike. :(

Fire them... there are lots of people looking for work. Also stop giving management billion rand bonuses, If I had to go on strike over a wage increase I would be sacked on the spot.

South Africans

The workers of this country have no spine.

We had a technician out here on Tuesday, very nice chap but he is on contract as the rest have striked and he is filling in. The sad thing is that he was retrenched two months ago and he was really efficient and one of the best that I have seen. Maybe because he is hoping for a reappointment so he raised his game.

Every year when winter starts everybody takes their turn to strike.

Isn't pathetic service by telkom just the normal state of affairs ?

I reckon every single one of their employees can go on strike and nobody would really notice it in less than 2 or 3 months.

Clearly if you read up people have noticed that they are on strike

This may explain why I've been waiting for almost three weeks for Telkom to activate ADSL on my line. I'm doing a self install so I guess they can't get a technician to the exchange to sort out something on the DSLAM. I thought Telkom could activate ADSL on an POTS line remotely from their control center.

This article has Telkom downplaying the situation.

I have a small business with a phone line with no dial-tone, and consequently no clients getting thru and no business being done. It's been like this since the end of May. (And with the mobile networks not handling the load, calls ring through to voice, and sms's and voicemail notifications take up to two days to arrive.)

After many desperate calls to the call centre, a "manager" confirmed that this is a (in his words) "national crisis" with over 20 000 faults in the Jo'burg area alone.

The Telkom adverts are all very sexy, but as is pretty much par for the course for them, their action on the ground lets them down (again).

I posted a thread about this. I bought a 2nd hand Iburst modem and I am currently waiting for my user details from Iburst because Telkom technicians are useless buggers. I wouldn't have had to do that if they had just installed the damn line.

Why did it take soo long for myBB to write an article about this? Its been about 3 weeks since the start of the strike.

funny thing about these strikers.... I wonder if they are giving any thought to what the strike is costing THEM?
if no-work-no-pay rule applies, they loose munny for every day they laze around.
somebody said of some recent strike, even if they would get the demanded increase, they would still be worse off, because of all the monies they lost due to not working.
LOL at the soccer stadium security guards.... bitsing about a little extra munny here and there.... now, because they were on strike from the stadiums, the cops are now permanently doing the security, so these security ouks, are now not getting "low" payments, ... they're not gonna get any payments!
Of course everybody should get a fair deal, but by all means find another way to complain than strike... it really is loose-loose for all.

And still has to be said... are these the kind of people you want working for you, zero commitment, sommer go on strike and FU to everybody else..... be they security, telcom, safety, health ... whateva
Especially in this country where there is sooooo many other guys who would love to get a job, and really perform to keep it :-(

Maybe the Telkom Customers should also start striking and pay their accounts only after receiving reminders.
Maybe that will wakeup the boys at Telkom.
