correction: Americans claiming to be girls ;)

yup....

mine was down....

SAIX acc back up now, spoke to my neighbour, his IS is also back up

my mail is still down (two different mail servers on two different servers @ two different locations).

Some of my ADSL clients in Cape Town are also experiencing problems. My VPN networks keep disconnecting.

My own Sentech connection is running fine. :D

Customer centric demonstration

So Telkom demonstrates how much it cares about customers once more.
How to react when we have a *national* service outage:
1/. Don't bother to inform frontline operators that there is a problem.
2/. Don't bother to re-route calls to other call centers when the load kills 0800375375
3/. Clam up and don't bother to explain the problem its ok to just say we have a national problem, let the customer deal with the fall-out, after all its not like they can do anything about how we treat them.
4/. Don't bother to mobilise *every* techie onto solving the problem, its enough if two of them deal with it after lunch.
4/. Don't bother to apologise for the service interuption.
5/. Don't bother to offer to credit a days line rental because we happened not to deliver a service to *everyone* using a particular service.
After all, its not like the customers have any choice but to put up with all the c$ap we shovel their way, who else can provide the service.
Ahh the joys of dealing with service providers in a competitive, competently regulated industry.

Telkom could improve on their service by informing clients by SMS when there is a network problem affecting them.

It would save IT support teams a lot of head aches.

In a normal service orientated world such service would be free.

Telkom unfortunately is not part of the normal world.

Cause of problem?

well if they are anything like Datapro....

you call with a complaint. you ask for the EMAIL SUPPORT. you get a message "or email us with your problem and we will get back to you a.s.a.p" is there any brains in this world??

sometimes i think we should appreciate the services we actually DO have because i dont think any member of myadsl.co.za has ever gotten through to any support person at any ISP or telkom that actually knows whats going on. so maby instead of worrying about getting a 5mbps adsl line. appreciate that they understood the manuals enough to get the 1mbps working... sortof...

New Doornfontein is part of the 011 exchanges - however I lost ppp conectivity from about 12:00 to about 13:10 allthough I connect via the EligwaPark exchange in the 016 region - somehow must be linked?
