Good Day Guys.

Im wondering if anybody could assist me in trouble shooting the following issue.

I have recently moved homes and moved from Telkom to a company called ClearWire. They run the ADSL lines in the estate.

My previous setup was working 100% with all my wireless devices. Since staying here I am getting inconsistant connection issues throughout all my devices but particularly me and my wifes cellphones. We are getting connection to the router and wifi network. But not getting any axcess to the internet. This problem comes and go's which is really frustrating as i am unable to test settings to try and troubleshoot.

This morning after waking up I had to reset the router which then allowed all devices to be able to connect. After returning from work now both myself and my wifes phones are unable to connect to the internet. Although we are able to connect the network. Even restarting/resetting does not fix the problem as it did earlier in the day.

The only issue i managed to find from online was DHCP server settings. I was hoping that some devices were sharing an IP adress on the network, but they all have individual static IPs assigned. There also have been no new devices connected since relocating

I have no more ideas of what to do. Other than perhaps trying a newer router.

Curently using a TP Link 300mbps ADSL2+ TD-W8961N Modem/Router

Luckily, on your other older (Telkom) router, you could simply edit the PPPoE username and password and use that router in the meantime.

Try clearing the system logs .
Have that problem on my Asus .

Good Day

Thanks for the advice. No luck on any of the methods. Even whent a bought a new router. Same problem persists. Any more ideas out there?

Connect a pc via LAN cable to the router. Does it still drop the connection? Remove the manually assigned IP's, put the DHCP server lease time to maximum.

Dude, you arnt configuring it properly.

Here are all the settings you need:

PPPoE Encapsulation
ISP Username & Password
LLC Based with 8 and 35 values

Thats all, if that doesnt work you need to check if your line is syncing/training.

Hi,

as mentioned before the provider is not set up as a PPPoE, and thus has not supplied me with any Username and Password. Its a plug and play solution. So once I plug into the wall I should have access to the internet, which is what does happen, just not on a concistant basis over my Wifi devices.

Hi, I will try this when i get home. Thanks.

Hey, based on your encapsulation type you may be authenticating via Dynamic IP/IPoE explains why its plug and play , if your router is configured correctly and indicating that the internet is connected example : Internet and DSL lights are green , this may be a DNS issue? you mentioned you able to connect to the wifi network but unable to browse? try changing primary and secondary dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 , perhaps telkom isnt sending this automatically to your router
