Hi there

Long time lurker.

I've just had a new network installed at home. I have a combination of 6x TP Link Omada AP (ceiling / wall) installed, with variety of PoE devices as well (intercom units) for a total of 15 or so devices. I also have a Hikvision DVR, alarm and intercom system running on this network. From the fibre ONT, internet is fed to my Afrihost tp-link EX511 router - which then feeds a tp-link omada PoE switch. All other network devices are connected to the switch.

The network recently failed on the weekend - the router wasn't pushing internet to the switch, and on the switch, the Hikvision system sends me IP conflict errors and, despite being connected, is and remains down. When the Hikvision system was being installed, the PS5 (hardwired via LAN) would drops every 3 or so seconds from the network. I managed on the weekend to restore most of the network 1 by 1, save for the Hikvision system and one wall mounted AP. The Hikvision system has been down more than up, and my security company now has advised they can't solve it.

Is there any recommended firm who actually specialises in this that could assist me? At this point, it has exhausted my abilities to solve. My idea is to assign a static IP to each device on the wired network to attempt to resolve any IP conflicts - but not sure this would be a solve. Just out of ideas. I used to use @saturnz (I think) from this forum a long time ago but his email bounced back so not sure he is around.

Thanks very much.

Personally sounds like one of two options:
1. You have devices on static IP's that the DHCP does not know about (reserved) so it is assigning it to another device thereby causing a conflict.
2. You have multiple DHCP servers running on the network.

Does seem like the problem is somehow linked to those 2 devices that stay down.

Personally I would not do static ip assignment. If you want a devices ip to forever remain static then you rather locate it on the dhcp server and create a reservation / assignment.

Had a client whom had his ISP Router replaced his Omada gear was on the same IP Range DHCP of 192.168.0.x and causued havoic assume you are having the same issue with your TP-Link Gear

Do me a favour and dm your details and your whole topology and network gear will see if this is something that can be remotely done with a few drops or have to be done on-site.

Also please confirm you ip ranges are they out of the box defualts or did you change anything?

Edit: Also use to work for TP-Link as Technical Sales Manger so quite familiure with all the hardware lines including Tapo, VIGI, Mercusys and have quite updated roadmaps even though been out of the company for a year now MSA just ended.

Edit2: EX511 will have an active DHCP Server, TP-Link Switch as well on the same range as the EX511, Hikvision NVR as well if hooked up to the switch so its a triple threat hence why client is battling so much @IzZzy

If all else fails i have DM'd you with my direct contact number we can arrange a remote session so i can check the basics but need to know the following:

What devices are getting internet?
What Devices are not?

As far as i understand as the Switch and 1x EAP no WAN connection also assume these are not connected to a Omada Controller?

Your Hikvision what is the IP address on your DVR system? have sent how to ge this info via dm if you struggle just shout happy to jump on a call/whatsapp and take it from there.

Make sure all devices are on DHCP including the switch if it's a smart one.

You should only have one DHCP server, check that your AP's are set to AP mode and not router mode.

Omada APs are always AP Mode only even in stand-alone mode the problem is DHCP will be enabled out of the box on the Omada Switch + EX511 from Afrihost both will want to occupity the 192.168.0.1 then we have the DVR depending how it was configured that is another device that could be confliciting either on 0.1 or 0.254 i have made contact with Izzy to see if i can arrange a site visit this is a case of a IP Conflict and either dual DHCP on the same range or Tripple if its a DVR and not a NVR as NVR also has a DHCP server that can cause issues out of the box on a fresh network this is why omada switches out of the box these days are 0.254 and the NVR 0.253 on VIGI side then your IPC has its own assignment of addresses but have seen that the NVR that can also broadcast a range in rare cases depending on how everything was setup

So some feedback spoke to the client over Whatsapp seems to be a multiple issue case APs almost all are showing 1Gbps the one on Cable 10 is showing 100MBps, AP6 no LED no Power causue to be determined.

Dual DHCP Confirmed ip block to be assigned correctly and static ips assigned to EX511, ES-Series Omada Switch, EAP Wireless Devices, DVR, Intercom System.

All devices are on the 192.168.0.1/24 range, on-site visit required and requested root cause to be done on site if its a cable fault on port 10 or something else, long run, wrong crimp etc, AP6 to be diagnosed if damaged somehow and replaced under Omada RMA Warranty through TP-Link or Distirbutor.

Will not share more info but op is welcome to share what he wishes to otherwise will be treated as a private job with no further info shared to the public but looks to be an exciting job that should be quite a good fix.
