ADSL Router issues

I am requiring some genius thoughts on a strange issue. :erm: I have a telkom 5 Gb 342K ADSL account. I have a D-link ADSL2+ router 2640U. I cannot maintain a steady link to the internet when wanting to view secure sites (https://...) like facebook, banking etc. To get a connection I have to use a Proxy server. Yet when I use my iconnect username I battle even more and need to reboot the router every 30min??? Helppppp

Few questions,
does it do this on another internet connection with the same pc?
Do other computers do this on your adsl connection?
Have you tried another browser?

Obviously, trying to narrow down where the issue lies!

I have had an issue like this with a vpn client on the laptop, you dont by any chance have an unusual vpn client by any chance?
Lastly, it could be an MTU issue (bit of a stretch...)
Very lastly, even more of a stretch....check date and time on your laptop
