Yet I've had plenty of 50kb/s uploads to ftp.uunet.co.za and other local ftps using standard telkom 512K ADSL. Which could mean telkom isn't throttling the upstream to an effective 256K (yet)? This can obviously change at any moment..

So, Bobs_uncle, any news on the tests that has been conducted with the vpn?

Hi Azrael,

Well for the brief time that the ADSL lines we have were up, some users reported pings of sub 500ms, up to about 800ms averaging. The pings were stable, until telkom killed our ADSL lines. They still haven't come out to fix them!

We will be running another gaming VPN test this weekend before we launch the product. We obviously want to know what the response will be in regards to gaming on our service.

The proxy tests wen't very well according to this thread. Users were reporting 40KB downloads at time. I think the lowest reported was 8KB downloading. Unfortunately, as more users climb on, so your speed will drop. This is why we say its a 20:1 contention.

Telkom just fixed our lines. Changed the ports on the Exchange.

So we are back up and running now!
