Next year I'm moving in to a house with four of my mates, and we want to get a 3gb ADSL account to share between us. I currently have a Netgear Router DG834GT available to me to use, or I could purchase a new one, or any (cheap) hardware necessary. Okay sharing the connection is simple enough and works fine, like currently in my home. However we want to split the cap in five portions, eg. 615 mb each.. so that it is not unfairly distributed.
Is there any hardware or software, besides a linux server that may be able to do this?
I have an application DUMeter which monitors network traffic, but cannot differentiate between network traffic and ADSL, and cannot cut off the connection.
I also have an application DU SuperController (Seperate Company) which manages available speed and allows limits for each software program. I have heard of a similar program called NetLimiter.
This measures download speeds for each program so could easily record cap for each user, and then when data for month (615mb) is exhausted the speed should be throttled to 2 KB/s for example. But it doesn't. Does anyone know of any programs which could do this?
