I have a 4 meg line from telkom and have switched over to mweb 4 meg uncapped adsl with mweb

When I do a speedtest on my mac (which is hard wired from router to mac) I get good download speed tests around 3.5 mb/s.

When I do the same speedtest on my iphone (on wireless network) I get speeds of only 1.5mb/s or a few minutes ago .8 mb/s

Telkom say nothing wrong with line - MWeb say they are not throttling me. No further advice provided
Any ideas? I stream TV through my apple TV which is connected wirelessly.

I am wondering if some software is not up to date - have checked apple software and all good but maybe router /router settings. When I do line check with my laptop on wireless network speeds are similar to imac so also think may have something to do with the apple products??

When I start watching a program speeds are fine but after about 30 minutes or so they start dropping off as I watch which is frustrating and eventually the programs hangs while it re buffers but by then I am *+*&* off!

Does any body have a solution/suggestion - I would just like to get a stable speed even if it is a little slower
thanks in advance
Paul

Your first mistake was going over to MWEB and your second was getting an iPhone. :)

Seriously, on your iphone wifi settings, change Radio Mode to 802.11g only. Let us know if it works.

I don't see that setting on my iOS7 iPhone. I doubt you can change that setting. Perhaps OP should change it on router.

OP, try this article

Thread title misleading - there's nothing wrong with your fixed line ADSL link, it's your own wireless settings that are borked.

Thanks guys

will try and sort this out using apple support note. As per nilslofs comment.....I did try afihost but service with call centre was so crap i thought I would be better off with mweb. At least they had the decency to return my calls/ emails etc and give me clearer understanding of usage levels before they throttled me

Finally I think I have resolved this elusive issue ( well it was elusive on my side) I am posting so others may try this if they have same problem
I basically reset my RAM parameters on my imac and also did a flush on my DNS cache - I think the flush did it :):)

DNS CACHE FLUSH

Mac OSX
Step 1: Open the Terminal
Navigate to Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

Step 2: Flush DNS
Type the following command and hit enter.
Mac OSX 10.5 & 10.6 (Leopards) : dscacheutil -flushcache

It appears to have worked for me as i am getting 'normal speeds of around 3.4 download and my ping on network is 22. so all looking good. I have not got any consitant reading for the past month doing my speed test but have got 6 in a straight row last night and this morning. Hope this helps someone. Thanks to those who commented

This thread is a bunch of confusion from OP.
Wireless giving issues but contact Telkom about your ADSL line.
First figure out your problem before notifying the world.

I agree, he complains about Speedtest on iPhone, does a flush DNS on Mac and all is sorted.
LOL, IT problems....
At least it's almost holiday.
