I have recently moved to an area that is regarded as a 'poor' signal area for iBurst. I have even purchased an omni but it actually makes my connection worse. I am considering getting an ADSL line and chucking out the iBurst.
Are there any people out there that have made the move themselves and can give me any advice?

I will probably go for the 1meg line which will hopefully mean I get a 4meg line. (Does anyone know how to confirm this?)

My main priorities are speed and uptime, and I'm just not getting it from my iBurst at the mo. I don't usually use more than a couple of gigs a month, but that does fluctuate, so am thinking of a prepaid account with WebAfrica.

Any suggestions or advice welcome.

u get depending on where you live the 4meg line

if u are nearer to the exchange, you get higher the speed

right now, i get 2meg on my 4meg line

however my uptime is still 384

so lets say u live near the exchange, u get 4096/384
if u live far u get 1024/384

im using axxess. they have a topup that is not confined to being used in one month.. they actually give u 6 months to use the purchased bandwith, and their prices are reasonable... plus instant activation on their website with credit card purchase... adsl.co.za or http://www.axxess.co.za. plus you can purchase prepaid vouchers at any engen quick stop... hope this helps

Be careful of a Axxess and their Credit Card purchases!!!!!! Come the end of the month you purchased those "once off" caps they, by default with NO option to opt out during the initial purchase or even WARN YOU, just deduct the same amount off your credit card. Then to top it off you don't even get an apology when you complain about it. During the purchase they lead you to believe its once off....hmmmm

And yes definitely go for ADSL...without a doubt. We had ILAG / IBUST at the office and chucked it cause it was more down or slow than anything else.

i selected the topup account... so only when i approve the transaction, will money be removed from my account... the only place that i have heard of similiar account problems occuring was with the auto topup on imaginet.... with axxess topup it is a once off payment instead of a debit order agreement....
