Hello all, I am new to the community,

Need help quite badly...

Does TelkomZA still reply.

I have sent a PM. Still no reply yet. I have enabled fast path and disabled ASSIA.

20Mbps line but only getting 12Mbps. They say I have VDSL but I cannot get 40 Mbps?
My exchange also allows for VDSL but I am uncertain as Telkom Technician says he cannot see that I will be able to get 40Mbps..

Upload is less than 1Mbps but VDSL services but should be 5 Mbps.

I apparently have voltage spikes on my line, would this help me sort the problem? One would think that higher voltage should make the line more stable as I have heard I am about +-2.5km from the exchange?

Then regarding the router? would the router that I currently have be sufficient for both ADSL2+ / VDSL? Can my router be the cause of my problem. Router = Huawei HG532f ADSL Router.

Any Replies would be greatly appreciated...

First of all the HG532f is not VDSL capable only ADSL/2+

Second of all you need to be <1KM for 40Meg VDSL

ADSL2+ has a max sync rate of 20Meg.

What are your line stats?

Reply...WHOAW...Never thought I would get a reply.

I have very little to a small amount of knowledge to Wisp Tech. If this will help me config it better.

Thanks for the reply anyways...Hope I can get this line better...

Oh...And I just did a speed test. With Speedtest.net.

Getting 9ms Ping with 10.87Mbps Down and 0.65 Up.

Hi

You are way too far to get anywhere close to 20Meg. Your MAX attainable is - Max Down = 19652 which you will never get. Switching to VDSL may get you to 15/16Meg as you gain a couple of Meg from ADSL overheads.

I am 1.1km from my ISAM and I get 19.6Meg on VDSL and my MAX attainable is 34Meg. They enabled 40Meg in my hood but after asking for upgrade all I got was 26Meg. BUT they won't allow that and cancelled my order - so back to 20Meg for me. Within 800m of ISAM/exchange for 40Meg so you wont get that either.

So you could get a couple extra Meg by buying a VDSL router otherwise fibre when you get it.

Thanks for the response. I have dealt with TelkomZA. What a pleasure it was. If only the entirety of Telkom would have employees like these. We would have very little to no problems. My line is syncing at 15.5meg now.

I still have a short on my line and this would possibly give me an extra 3 meg. regarding my upload, I have chosen Fast Path. Therefore they cannot give me anything better than 1 meg upload. I am not happy about this but I am waiting until my physical line is checked at, I may get another meg with upload after my line is fixed.

I recon waiting for fibre would be my best option...just bad if you dont know when the fibre is ready/being installed or if you can use the current infrastructure they have installed a few months ago.

Thanks all anyways....
