Looking for solutions on network extension to an out building. Line of sight is 65m and hardwire about double that with about 20m drop in elevation.

Thinking either long distance wifi or digging in a cable with a separate wifi router.

Any advice?

Oh, it's just for internet connection. 10mb fiber.

The distance is short, but digging is a hassle, rather get yourself 2x Ubiquity Nanostation locom2's.. It's easy to setup.

This

Simplest option by far.

You would need to use fibre or have a POE switch halfway along if using UTP cable as the run is over 110m.

Could probably get away with something like this if moving the wifi router to the closest side of the main house. 20181103_185830.jpg

try get a location with the clearest space between the 2 points.

lookup fresnel zone

Spend a little, get the Mikrotik 60Ghz Wireless Kit. Smaller beam, 0 interference, pre-programmed out of the box and a stable 500 Mbps + at +-150m.

Thanks for all the advice here. So I purchased 2 x Nanostation loco m2's.

And set them up as outlined here -

The Huawei Hg532f (configured to 192.168.1.2) connected to the fiber router is setup in up link mode and I have Internet going to a pc if connected to the cable but no internet connection to Nanostation A it seems. Can connect to 192.168.1.2 from laptop through Nanostation B so network seems fine...

Any more advice on how to solve this?

Which one is A, and which one is B?

Station A is connected to the Huawei Hg532f sending to Station B at the cottage.

Perhaps a default gateway issue..? Tried this now on 105.184.54.1 but still no internet coming through. 20181105_221955.jpg

So from the cottage, you can connect to the Huawei , but not the internet?

That's right. Tells me network's operational. Obviously I've got something setup like a rookie ;)

OK... Got it working. Basically configured both Nanostation's on this ip format with consecutive ip's... Will play with it more tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys!
