Hi all ... me again ...
I currently have a 384 line with a netgear DG834 router running a connection for four computers.
My neighbors want to share the line with me (I am not too worried about the speed issues) - and the idea is that we have a setup wereby we all connect to the modem using bridging with our own adsl accounts. The only problem is that for my end I will need one computer to manage the connection for my other four.
My origional idea was to use an old box and run smoothwall on it, then connect a hub to it and let the other computers connect to that. The problem is that the old computer is very noisy and there isn't really anywere in the house to put it (were someone won't complain ...) - I am also worried that it *could* just stop working one day (very old....)
What I want to ask is if anyone has a better idea than what I currently have to run the network?
Thanks
