Wow you are very knowledgable.

What will the mileage be expected at that age?

Which is the model after 997.2 and what were the changes and price point?
I could stretch to 950k

The next model is the 991, looks great. Check out autotrader to see what you can find, might have a few second hand ones, probably by touch and go at that price.

991 you could get a carrera base model for just over R1m ... but trust me on this you want the S ... its the S variant or nothing else.

981 is the boxster/cayman variant and NOT a 911

the 991 is the current iteration of the 911

a 997.2 will cost from R850k-R900k for a fairy clean low miler (under 30 000km)... dont fear cause the car has been at these prices for a good few years now and wont depreciate like a BMW at that price point ...

BUT ... i have driven the new cayman and boxster (basically a convertible cayman, although Porsche doesn't want anyone seeing it that way) and honestly i think its absolutely fabulous ... so fabulous that id take it over a 991, or 997 carrera ... its not the fastest car around, but boy is the car just perfect ... perfect sound, perfect gear changes and just the right amount of speed without fearing for your life ... i would buy a boxster s for around R800k ... and buy one directly from Porsche and your plan etc will be intact ... again a 911 back seats are not really back seats ... get your kids to fit in the back and you will see what i mean ...

my pick from a 991, 997.1, 997.2 and 981 variant porsche would be a 981 cayman s ... (aint a convertible fan)

I had a colleague you just said what u said.
He was always a 911 driver until he got a cayman.
He says the sound of the engine in your back versus the bum is a game changer!

Visit Porsche on a Saturday morn with the family and test drive a boxster s... Drive a 997 while you there... Make it a outing.... They should not give you any hassles... Free coffee and muffins :)

It has been a childhood dream to own a Porsche and I finally think I can get one.

The cayman was my initial choice and seems "affordable" but after chatting to some peeps the rear seats of a 911 carerra will be useful esp with having kids.

Now this means u am stretching outside my budget.

Is there much cost saving to getting a used model?
How often does the the shape change or facelift?
If I went with the cayman I would have got the "s". This is the same engine as the normal carerra. Is this adequate power for the bigger car?

You really want a Singer 911... $500k

Next to this build yourself a 356 replica. I guarantee you more fun and satisfaction for many more years than any used porsche.

Ita not all about speed... and your powertrain options are unlimited.

VW type 1 chassis.... bugger transmission from VdubTech and a subaru plant... you will love it every day you drive it.

No thanks...

I'll rather go with a muscle car like the mustang
