I am looking for a VPN with best download speeds and privacy,searched the net and found few of them interesting.I tried privateinternetaccess but very disappointed with speeds never above 300KB on my 10meg line even news server crawling at 150KB ,I don't know what am I doing wrong? I would love to hear others getting good speeds from their VPN.I am connecting to the server from icon in the system tray not on the router .:confused:

Not sure if this is entirely what you're looking for but if you want to retain full speeds for streaming media try unblock-us.com
By just changing your DNS settings in your router you are able to stream media that otherwise would not be available to you and can do it at full speed.They have a 7 day free trial so nothing to lose by trying it out.

HideMyAss was not too bad in the beginning, but lately the speed has gone down across all the servers to just about being dead in the water.

Using VPNUK now and they seem great at this stage. Even answered one of my queries within 5 minutes of sending it @10pm on a Friday evening, and solved it within two minutes. I :love: dealing with the 1st world.

By the way, they include IP address allocation from other countries than the UK itself as well with the account.

private tunnel is also good. simple, but very easy to use and very good! I tried one of these DNS server things and it was a pain in my arse. I ended up getting to annoyed that I just setup a 100GB account with private tunnel.

and it works like a charm. I dont use torrents a lot, but if I do then I fire up this either connected to UK/USA and do my torrent and disconnect.

the only other time I use it is if I need to stream sport from USA (only free if IP in USA) and sport on BBC's iPlayer and EuroSport Player (need UK/EU IP)

Very happy with throughput :)

Thanks.I am looking for privacy and to hide my net activity from the prying eyes:).
I sometimes use torrents so don't want to get caught downloading those Linux distros.I knew using a VPN can slow down your speed but not to the extend I am experiencing at the moment i.e below 300KB while using news servers I usually get line speed 1Mb/s.I am open to all ideas from you geeks.I want privacy and speed even if its little less than my line speed I am happy:)

1 Mb/s is about 100K/sec. Im going to assume that what you meant was that you have a 10Mb line and you used to downloading at +- 1MB/sec

private tunnel wont disappoint :)

You genius :Dman yes I mean +/- 1MB/s download speed on my 10MB line.Thanks

Hi There Citizensa,
The primary purpose of a VPN is to connect securely via encrypted link to server and/or client directly via Internet. Speed is a secondary consideration.
If you are going this route to hide your ip then you could look at TOR client.
If you want to get content and and hide your IP then you could look at VPN providers resident in other countries but your download speed is going to suffer
