So I have read about Telkom's inability to help their customers lately. Sadly, I have been hit as well... early in Feb I was contacted by a Sales agent about Telkom Simple. So I considered everything and I signed up for the Telkom Simple deal with 4meg line and 20gb data (plus router and mobile data, and and and).

I specifically asked the consultant if I can convert my current line to this package and he said yes. Knowing these companies, I recorded the call. I duly cancelled OpenWeb (because they require a notice period). I never heard anything from Telkom again.

So I read the article on myBB a while back about their call centre retrenchments and that they were struggling to handle queries. The spokesperson pleaded that we make use of Social Media to communicate.

I logged into the portal and I saw an order was placed and cancelled. I tried calling the call centre a couple of times, held for hours, nothing. So I turned to Facebook... after hearing nothing for 4 days, I tried the hellopeter route. Got a reply with a new reference... Nothing further. I then eventually got a reply on Facebook with ANOTHER reference.... You guessed it, nothing else. I then replied to my complaint on Hellopeter rating the service whereafter I got a call from the Social Media team.

The lady in charge explained to me that they cannot give me the offer and that it was only applicable to new customers. I explained to her that I specifically asked the sales person about this and he confirmed that I qualify for the package and that I have the call recording to prove it. She said that she will then have to go and get the call recording from their side to investigate... Yup... nothing further.

I have now literally tried all their channels to no avail and in the meantime my ISP account is cancelled as of the end of this month. I don't really know what else to try.

I am so p'eed about this, especially in light of the fact that I have been defending their service over recent years.

My questions:

1. What are my alternatives (I have a 4meg line and consume 20-30gb per month)?
2. If there are no alternatives, which ADSL ISP will be best value for what I currently use that gives acceptable service and decent prices?

Sheesh dude. That is really rough.
Axxess or Afrihost Capped (20+20) is R89/month.
Webafrica Capped is split between day and night traffic. Their 75GB package is R79/month.

Line rental you can get from all 3 as well.
 
I signed up for a Smart Home bundle with Telkom. When I discovered they were blocking P2P during the day on my account and they told me there was nothing they could do, I cancelled within the cooling off period. They cancelled the Smart Home Package, but now it says I'm on a 24 Month contract.

It's too much trouble to fight it. I have signature confirmation from a Telkom employee that I returned all related hardware etc.

Even though they were Rica'd, I had to return the sims as well, and was told they would be stopped. It's a bit worrying, because it looks like someone else is using them according to my Telkom bill. :wtf:

Look at it like you dodged a bullet :D

Try Crystal Web, think they got capped account starting at 40GB.
 
Thanks guys, I'll check it out. All things considered, maybe it's a blessing in disguise!
