AfD Declared 'Right-Wing Extremist Endeavor' by German Intelligence

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has filed a lawsuit against the German domestic intelligence agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), which recently labeled the far-right party as "confirmed right-wing extremist."

On Thursday, the BfV complied with the AfD's request to follow a so-called "standstill commitment" (Stillhaltezusage). This means that the agency is putting its official reclassification of the AfD as a right-wing extremist party on hold.

Do you think this is wrong too?

Are they banning political parties?
Orban have some time ago mentioned in an interview about NGO, paid by external parties, causing problems in the country, pushing agendas that is at odds with what Hungary and its people want, like mass immigration, etc.

Ok, so it's OK if right wingers shut down dissent. Gotcha.

Can't have these NGOs telling some inconvenient truths.

I see. Would you believe Cyril if he mentioned all this ? Just checking

Ok mate. Betcha if Orban was a leftie, you'd have issues with what he's doing. 😏
No, don't care if he left or right. Hungarians won't vote for him if he was not doing what was best for them.
Woman with 4 children don't pay income tax for life. New mothers get 25% off their incomes tax per year. How is that bad?
He wants to keep Hungary Hungarian. Don't see anything wrong with that. Their population is quite small, if they take a million "refugees" every year, their culture will be gone within a decade.

Hmmm. So popular that he wants to shut people up who say things that he doesn't like though...

Also women with multiple children being exempt from income tax sounds very communist to me. Not good. Bad Viktor.

People taking money with the purpose of causing political/social upheaval. If he throws people in jail for memes, like the UK and Germany, then please let me.

The being jailed for memes thing is a massive exaggeration. Please post stats of the number of people in jail in the UK and Germany for posting memes.

It's the Guardian....

Did you read it?

oh and lol

This article was amended on 14 May 2025 to replace the main image. An earlier version mistakenly included a picture of the prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, rather than Viktor Orbán as intended.

Oh no, not The Guardian..

*Sobs

I presume you're saying that the article isn't accurate then (apart from the silly photo mistake, of course) What is your take on it?

Do you think those organisations should be banned?

Take away the spin meant for their progressive fckwit audience and work out what is really happening.

Ok, I've done that. They're trying to ban stuff, but old Viktor is a right winger so all good.

Ban away.

Right.
So who exactly was banned and what is the process for banning from start to end?

Article from 2017:
Nine people a day are being arrested for posting allegedly offensive messages online as police step up their campaign to combat social media hate speech.
More than 3,300 people were detained and questioned last year over so-called trolling on social media and other online forums, a rise of nearly 50 per cent in two years, according to figures obtained by The Times.
About half of the investigations were dropped before prosecutions were brought, however, leading to criticism from civil liberties campaigners that the authorities are over-policing the internet and threatening free speech.

Not much I could find on Germany, as it seems to be recent thing.

Ok, but that article doesn't mention the number of convictions, or what was actually said.

It's just funny that people get upset about people being arrested for hurty words, but then also get upset because Julius hasn't been arrested for hurty words.

My own personal belief though is that threatening people with either direct or indirect harm isn't acceptable, and that includes people threatening to burn down mosques etc and Julius too.

Ok, so you didn’t read it and it is a nothing burger.

The end
