Africa INX cans Uncapped ADSL plans

For their sake I hope that what they release is a high-usage capped service otherwise it won't, in any way, compete with the uncapped services and it will be a very overlooked product.

I think many, when confronted with the idea of a cap, would rather stick to Telkom or sign up with Afrihost or use Axxess' R19/gig unshaped service. If Africa INX can't bomb that out of the water or offer a competing uncapped product then... erm... Africa INX who? :erm:

I would like to suggest that MyBB writes an article investigating these claims. Are ISPs trying to find ways of worming their way out of uncapped strategies? Really? Why does any ISP with even the most remote reputation still seem to have uncapped on offer? Why does it seem uncapped is growing, not shrinking?

Personally, I'm more than happy paying for my uncapped Gold account through OpenWeb, the service has been decent and support has been perfect. The idea of ever setting foot near a cap again irks me greatly.

Agreed. I can't imagine going back to some ridiculous account where they want you to use 3-5GB a month. A MONTH? That would mean downloading my games off Steam would take 2 months instead of 2 or 3 days :wtf: Not to mention a few hundred rand over what I already paid for the actual game. LOL at these guys trying to rationalise their inability to offer an uncapped service!
 
Yet another annoying article about moving backwards in South Africa.

F**K You Telkom! and your pricey IP Connect. The only reason people are moving so much data PER account is because more than one person HAS TO club in to make it affordable. Bring down the cost of internet and all the download groups will fizzle out.

R400+ for a broadband line only??? Stop being so god damn greedy!!!!

I'd hardly call crappy "uncapped" accounts moving forward.
 
Maybe africa inx should fix their website first before talking **** like this!
 
I dont blame them actually..... what with all the negative press these uncapped solutions are getting.

Currently you can either get 5gb a month or hundreds of gigs. What I would like to see are a few providers addressing the market between. ie the 10GB to 30 GB range, at a price that lies somewhere between the R60 for 2 gigs and the 199 for uncapped.
 
Mweb uncapped here and happy as hell with it, my usage has dropped from over 200 gigs in the first few months to barely over 50. Not to sure that this "uncapped is unsustainable" isn't simply BS.

And as long as uncapped is sold as a "premium product" it will primarily attract those who use huge amounts of data.
 
According to Hardy Africa INX has been monitoring the progress of uncapped ADSL since its launch, and has watched users moving from the traditional capped services to uncapped services, only to migrate back to more reliable capped services again.

Where do they get this crap? 5 people move back? Where are these numbers ? The only one I see is mweb's tribe of 70 000 ..... Who here has gone from capped to uncapped then back to capped because of service? If so please tell us why.
 
I would like to see Local data for free or uncapped without paying a arm and a leg for it.. Would not mind still paying R60 for 2gb of international bandwidth(a lower more cost effective price would be better though).

  2. Capped moved to Uncapped
  3. Cappped moved to Uncapped back to Capped
  4. Uncapped moved to Capped

In an email to customers Africa INX said that companies like IS and Afrihost have faced legal action over the ‘false advertising’ surrounding their uncapped ADSL products. “This is due to these, and all other ADSL companies, implementing usage restrictions, on their DSL offerings, which in principle means that the services are in fact not uncapped.”

Now please bring us some cheap high usage accounts so that all these other FAKE uncapped accounts can die a miserable death.
