Afrihost 4mb Uncapped RAGE Trial

Account has seemingly hit a nose-dive. Torrents will no longer work above 40kbps and Steam, well, here:

Well let me give my input. I started preloading xcom yesterday. Speeds fluctuated quited quite a bit, but obviously so due to the shaper. Was 200, then 300, then 400, then 200 again.

I suppose that's ok for a 4 meg account.

I just need to ask if the 10meg accounts will have higher minimum speeds?

Second thing is that Dota2 was shaped. It didn't lag, buts kipped. Almost like the shaper let it through for a sec, then stopped, then let through, then stopped. I was still preloading xcom off Steam at the same time so seems like the shaper can't yet tell the difference between a Steam games' traffic and a Steam download.

This should be looked.

My ping was around 233 last night in Dota2, which is ok I guess. On IS I'd mostly get 200 with bad days giving 250.
 
Please keep the feedback coming, we had quite a few vouchers redeemed, and apart from a few hiccups (which we've mainly been alerted to by posts here) things seem to be running very smoothly and all of our calculations seems to be spot on.

Our Dev team and engineers are listening, so please give your feedback, negative and postive, so that we can get this tweaked perfection!

Afriman, its still the same on my side...i'm basically getting 1mb speeds on the 4mb uncapped account. This is supposed to be the few days I try out the service in order to decide if I should jump to you guys or not. If this is the performance of the new MTN network then that's not what I was expecting at all.

I haven't even been able to use the trial properly as it only performed the way it was supposed to for just over an hour or so. If this problem is sorted out soon, can my trial be extended?
 
It seems my Steam speeds aren't too "accurate".

Afrihost may seem more "erratic" but the downloads don't seem to take too much longer than my SAOL account. I don't like how it spikes, but it seems to do the job.

These vouchers are running on the MTN network, and so uses a different management system to that being employed on our normal IS accounts. As far as I understand, these accounts prioritised by activity, so running multiple processes will mean that VOiP, SSH, VPN activities will take priority over torrent, NNTP and other P2P. so if there are multiple processes running, the lowest protocols could be running at approx. 1/7 of the available speeds. Depending on your line speed, this could be extremely slow. But if P2P is the only process running, it could run on full speeds.

Is there anyway I could get a trial uncapped from afrishost, I currently only buy unshaped capped from afrihost and i am very happy happy with it, i'm just worried I won't be happy with the uncapped.

We'll have to look at what could be happening, cos general feedback has been largely positive, and lots of clients are getting phenomenal throughput on the vouchers. I've asked the guys to look directly at the thread, so please post any results and graphs you can extract so they can start giving us some pointers.
 
Hey guys, I have one of these Afrihost vouchers which i got at rAge but i do not have a talkom line at my house, does somebody want it?
 
On the whole, it seems like MTN is working out nicely :)

We should be making some important announcements in Gian's address to the MyBroadBand Conference today, so please keep your eyes and ears peeled for that.

And please keep the feedback coming, based on what you're telling us we've been tweaking the network, and it just seems to be getting better and better!
 
My Rage uncapped disconnected (this morning) and don't want to re-connect. I emailed support but afriman can you help?

Are you connecting from the same ADSL number?

So new issue. Get home and Steam client says no connection even though youtube works fine. So thought "maybe an update". Restart and workds fine. Go into Dota2 and everything is fine then my Steam client disconnects, but no lag in game. Then it reconnects on it's own, then a few min later disconnects again. Extremely irritating when I'm on voice chat with friends.

So don't know why you guys hate Steam, but before this was willing to sign up for the 10meg account.

Oh well.
