Afrihost Account

Also a problem with my Afrihost account, it shows I've used over 1Gig under 'My Connectivity', but under usage overview it shows I've used about 280mb for today. Who used my other 720MB?

I have not used the Internet a lot today, so it is impossible for me to have used over a Gig.

6minutes past midnight I started checking my different bandwidth account balances. I finished off with Afrihost with a puzzled look. 197.683mb's used. I check out my graphs and I see I have only used 1012 mb's of my 2gig account(WA is thanks to that ;)) for last month. Then I did the math. I can only download 68.4mb in half an hour. I know I got cheated . I better not get charged for over usage in the future.
They quick to debit your account hey?

same with me

mines actually right, altho i havent used my account since the 25th, but i have 3g available

I started a 1.2 gb download at 8:00pm last night. It finished at 9:00am this morning. I then switched over to my Telkom account and have been using that account for the whole day. My stats at AfriHost show that I have 8gb remaining. Usage graph shows 1.2gb usage today.... Impossible as I am on a 384 connection. I did not go over, as I topped up and had at least 1gb remaining. Even if 1.2gb were used, where is the remaining 800mb?

After reading this thread - I'm cancelling both my accounts (the one should be cancelled already). I've had enough.

I'm starting to get a little concerned about this ISP with the number of complaints being posted on myBB. I lodged a ticket on their website today about my account losing allocated data without being used, received a response back fairly promptly asking for my username and have subsequently received no further feedback. There were two representatives on these forums who seem to have 'dissappeared' and apparently they no longer reply to PM's. I haven't seen one positive comment in the last few weeks about these guys other than their 'cheap bandwidth' which is being sold at what appears to be a loss and cannot be good for business (the term fly-by-night comes to mind). When this ISP came into the market there was a flood of positive feedback and I think everyone started sensing a real change coming to the South African broadband environment. Competition like this is what is really needed to kickstart the competition and light some fires under those ISP's and network providers who are currently sitting pretty. Sincerely hope that I'm wrong about this and that we'll see some improvements from this ISP because although they need all of our support to keep this change they've initiated continuing into the future, they also need to provide a working solution and good customer support, otherwise we'll all go back to where we were before.

okay mine got resolved! havent received any info back from them but just checked and they put the gb back that was lost.

Yesterday morning after mailing support about their buggy monthend bandwidth
calculations (where I lost 1.2 GB) my usage for October was 5159.87 MB, this
morning in the clientzone it has doubled to 12436.06 MB. Afrihost for the win.

Their service is the worst I have ever experienced. The one line canned
responses, the overly cheerful salutations. I will stick with do3 and webafrica,
because when you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

My account has been corrected, I got my 800MB back. Not bad service, logged a call last night and this morning it has been resolved.

My only worry is, is this going to be a monthly occurrence. I guess I have to switch my ADSL router off on the last day of the month to prevent this from happening.

Yep, same here. Afrihost's fix for my account this morning seems to consist of adding random numbers to the end of last month and yesterday's usage.

This "monkey accounting" somehow, magically, reduces my summary usage for this month to a more reasonable figure. So 4 + 3 = -2? Sure, why not... here at Afrihost we are ready to redefine the cost of internet and even math as you know it.

Afrihost, I'm watching my stats very closely, one more glitch and your paws are off my bank account.

Thanks for sharing the apparent discrepancies!

On closer inspection of my usage in client zone it appears that something may be awry with my available bandwidth.

I should have closed off October with approx 400 megs left. There should have been very little, if any, usage overnight - certainly not anywhere the region of 400 megs (I average approx 100 megs a day)

The graph for November reflects almost double the usage than that reflected on 'my bandwidth' portal and, if one views my my average daily usage, appears somewhat 'excessive'.

I've re-opened my ticket and await the outcome.

Afrihosts response:

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

There was something "broken" on the system; which caused the stats not to reflect as they should, over the weekend.
Fortunately our Administrators have picked this up & rebuilding the data; your data will be allocated correctly once the work is completed.

Thank you for your patience thus far.

Thanks to "A Non Blonde" for posting their response here.

Hopefully it does get resolved and doesn't happen next month.

no internet no cry :p

hehe sorry for my typing mistakes

Yeah, too much of this going on, had to remove Afrihost from my sig. I really hope they get their issues sorted... Otherwise Web Africa does look appealing

I'll stick with them through the teething problems - they do admit to the challenges they experience, and from what I've read on the forum, are more than fair with their solution offerings to aggrieved clients.

At the price I can deal with the little nigglies!
