Afrihost ADSL price confusion explained

Well, however you look at it, R1.80 a gig is impressive pricing. Well done Afrihost.

Am I correct in saying the following?
I am on a 4meg line capped 50 gig and Paying R375 a month
R279 is for the line rental
that leaves R96 for the 50 gig
Divide that by the 5o gig then I iam paying R1,92 per gig......
Is this correct

Why is there nothing between 200GB and 600GB? You are missing the sweet spot for me :(

They lost me to WA because of their price increase.

I'm on a tight budget, but I decided that paying R51 per month extra to upgrade from a 4Mbps line with a 100GB cap to a 10Mbps line with a 75GB cap was a pretty sweet deal. Then came the R70 increase from Afrihost! That would have meant R121 extra per month.

Oh, and the 75GB + 75GB* (*may or may not expire after 30 September) didn't do it for me. I'm sick of uncertainty, drop that sales pitch, it's getting old.

Anyway, I now pay WA ±R54 extra per month for a 10Mbps line and a 60GB+60GB (Download Plus) cap.

I wish we could get these old bundle prices back, although I have no idea how they managed to sell it so far below Telkom's price:

As per 19 March 2014:

So BASICALLY the double data is a myth for bundled packages, because you pay for every GB in the 50gb + 50gb. And if you stay on your normal 50gb you only get 4gb more, that is so AMAZING!! 4gb is so much!! NOT

So what happens at the end of September when the double data promotion stops, does the price then increase in two fold from R1.80 per gb to R3.60 per gb? Because I am sure that your bundle price is not going to drop end of September.

This whole thing is honestly such a mess, they are not giving you double data and you are paying for each gb, doesn't matter what the price, and when the double data falls away, you will pay more per gb, than before they started this whole story. So basically 3 months from now you will be paying more than you currently pay for the same amount of data (with the measly added 4gb). Nice.

I struggle to get through 80GB with series and movies, what you downloading unless it is HD for all content?

I worked out the other day that if you get 4 new shows a day it's around 180GB already and that's only tv shows.

This is for 720p shows, will be more for 1080p.

So even if you only get 2 new shows per day it's still 90GB /month.

My series size is 350MB each not in HD for series only movies.

bummer is im on a 10meg 75gig cap account and was paying R572 ... according to the new R1.80 per gig charge i should be on roughly 96Gig ... beginning of this month, noticed noting changed ... same price, same cap ... when my request went to the devs i was informed to unbundle my line and choose a cap and choose a line speed ... because they cant do anything ...

ya ....

Don't worry dude, promotions/specials are not for everyone. Some people, like you, can pay the normal price instead.

Keep it simple. R1.80 while the special is on and R3.60 when it's over.
