My experience with Afrihost is one of the worst I ever had with ISPs. I eventually cancel both my ADSL lines and will NEVER make use of your ADSL service.

They might be known for EXCELLENT SERVICE = Answering the Telephone on time and have someone on the other end listening to you, but that's how far its goes.

-Move over in Feb was quickly to sign up, the only process that was quick.
-Their billing is a mess - overcharge us for months and after weeks of fighting with them its still a mess. Wonder if they have someone competent to fix it? The price on the website is not always the price you pay and remember to triple check your invoices before you pay them.
-Their helpdesk claims it takes up to 2 weeks to upgrade from a 4Mb to a 10Mb line. Don't worry, cause they charge you for the two weeks and then after complaining fix the upgrade in min. (Only after the two week of course)
-So tired of sitting with slow speeds (under 3Mb per second), phone calls and complaints that I eventually decided to cancel the lines and move to someone else. (after my 4 week experience on a 10mb line) The problem is that I still pay for a 10Mb line for 30 days and someone at Afrihost decided to downgrade me automatically to a 4Mb line. Must I really make 20 phone calls to get this sorted out again?

Don't let me even start with their Reseller Server Package - I need more space if I want to include this also. Websites is more offline that online. (MSQL cannot connect, Not enough resources to process your request, Please contact the webmaster error......) - I have over 100 tickets since I signed up with them in Feb for website that is down. Moving over to my own server with them - just hope the experience will be different this time. If I had the energy and time to move all the websites away from them I would if done it!

I'm really sorry to read this thread. It sounds like you've had a horrible experience with us, and that really should not have been the way that things should have gone.

I'd really appreciate if you would drop me a PM, so we can chat about what happened, and what we can do to make amends. I totally understand if you still want to move away from us after this awful experience, but we'd like to make whatever time you are still with us up to the standard that it should be.

Hoping you'll PM me soon :(

For future posts...leave spaces between each point its really hard to read.

I have quite a few problems with this post ^^

Afrihost manages your line... NOT MAINTAINS it. Your line is still with Telkom, and if Telkom is crap in your area then you have a problem, irrespective of who manages your line.

Billing has not been a mess for myself, nor has it been for a friend I referred. I think you might be battling with accounting. I cannot, however, comment on Afrihost's web hosting as I have not used it, but based on the things you have difficulty with in the previously mentioned issues, I am not too sure you know what you are doing anyway...

The line transfer in two weeks is an indicator. Not a promise. The line will be transferred as fast as TELKOM allows. Not the other way around. It is also Pro rated, so you will most likely see a credit from Telkom in the months to come.

I think for future posts, he should pm... not post.

Thanks @Rickster for the advice, and will do.

Afriman - Already contact your helpdesk this afternoon about the current 1Mb speed - guy told me to wait because the line is stabilizing still and should come back to below 4Mb in 2 hours time. Will contact you once I have decent internet speed to chat. Just image upgrading to 10MB and end of with a 1Mb line - now I have to wait 30 days to move to get decent speed with another provider.

So without knowing anything about his setup or exact problems with his line you say its a telkom problem ??????

Wowy just wowy .... what about high latency's, what about the website that's down most of the time also telkoms fault ? The problem can be with afrihost or telkom but you claim its telkom ?????? Why does Mweb, Openweb, Webafrica not have the same daily problems ?

So you are claiming all ADSL issues is related to telkom even if you dont know what the exact problem is, you realize you sound like a idiot and fanboy.

Look, no disrespect to the OP, but I disagree with all of this as well. If he really had that many problems, he should have asked to speak to a manager instead of opening 100 tickets.

Just getting bored of new people opening MyBB accounts and starting threads to badmouth an ISP, only to never return (I know the OP joined in 2011).

Try contacting them via twitter. They help me very fast in there during business hours. Best ISP we've had so far.

You Sir know just as little, if not less.

The problems he described with his connection are classic Telkom problems.

1. Upgrade the line from 4Mbps to 10Mbps (SAME PRICE so no difference in the billing) and then the line becomes unstable. Classic TELKOM problem. I have heard about similar problems from numerous people who tried upgrading, including my parents at their place, so I have dealt with Telkom on their behalf.
2. Complain about billing - I and a number of my friends have had no problems with their ADSL billing. Sounds like he doesn't understand the process correctly. IE, AH charges pro rata for the remaining portion of the month, and Telkom only credits in the next billing cycle. So it is possible to be double charged up front, but you will get the credit back.
3. I said that I CANNOT comment on the hosting as I DONT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH IT. Try re reading my post...
4. I am an Afrihost fanboy. Only 1 reason, They are the best ISP at the moment IMHO.

So I suggest you read through posts more thoroughly before posting...

In response:

You should contact their support centre if you have a problem and there should be no need to search other means of response for support. Finding help on Twitter, MyBroadband or HelloPeter say that there is something wrong with the support structures of the company.

-I confirmed with Telkom that the upgrade of the line is possible, BUT, that Afrihost who manage both our adsl and data must process the upgrade because we bundled the two (Paying Afrihost for both the line and data). Not a telkom issue.

-Afrihost Support desk told me they doing everything - They did not. After complaining the person on the support desk contacted telkom while I was holding on and the upgrade was process within 15min.

-I send a complain letter on Sunday to the Afrihost helpdesk - still waiting a response.

-I send another letter yesterday morning - no response.

-I forwarded the letter this morning again and eventually got a response. HEADING OF THE EMAIL IS: "COMPLAINT"

Here the response:

"It is really sad to see you leave us! If there is anything we can do to keep you with us, please let us know.

Please note that we do NOT take email as confirmation for cancellation. You will need to go to the below website to make the necessary changes........"

NOT INTERESTED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES.

They certainly have issues as a hoster.
