Does afrihost block netflix? I ran out of data on webafrica so decided to switch over to my backup account which is with afrihost, everything works besides netflix i can ping the site and get a response back but if i try to browse the site i get page cannot be displayed

Just got this message so i guess they are blocking it, and this is why they will always just remain my 1gig backup account

This seems more like a you problem. I'm on afrihost and netflix works 100%

Just now turned on the Amazon Fire TV. No problems at all in accessing Netflix. As others have pointed out, it's obviously a problem on your side.

We definitely don't block netflix, many clients use it and other major streaming services. Please do note that Netflix do not offer services in South Africa, so they do block services from their side to DNS they locate to regions outside of their service. Many clients make use of service like UnoTelly, however we cannot endorse that service officially.

You will get a different message than the OP was getting if it was being blocked by DNS region restriction. the actual "service" was being blocked not the site according to the message above.

While Afrihost might totally suck at the moment, they certainly dont block Netflix.

Though with the capacity issues they are having, I hope you enjoy streaming at like 240p ;)

Now that the Southern IPC upgrade is in place, things should start improving in that respect. :)

Oh so there IS a capacity problem?
I m a client, on a capped package. I found that going capped is the only way around unethical practices from the ISPs.
When do you realistically expect to resolve the capacity problem?

No, it didn't. Neither capped nor uncapped was able to stream anything close to HD from Netflix last night. Had to switch accounts to be able to watch.

I was able to stream pretty well for most of the day today, only had a single hitch which was probably a Unotelly issue.

While demand definitely was higher, we did our absolute best to provide the best overall experience :(
All regions have seen an upgrade though, so services should return to normal.
