Afrihost and openserve fail!

I am on 25meg, and it is not behaving as such, mostly around the mid teens... I had openserve change the LAN from 1 to 2.. and speed is not always constant.. The issue is that Afrihost is bending over backwards to please openserve... They should be demanding openserve stop with the stupid games... That is my view...

I assume not yours, that is fine...carry on...

Thanks for your suggestion Peon, this is not the the right place.. There is a problem with the ONT, afrihost have closed the case...

Yes, as in no speed, so I cannot speed test as the test will not be considered, I explained this in a DM to Afrinatic and so far, tumbleweeds.. I was conned out of R2200 by the contractors hired by a 3rd party contracted to Afrihost... And Afrihost took no responsibility.. Just nothing...

Unfortunately we can not just log a fault for slow speeds. Openserve have very specific troubleshooting that needs to be done.

Each time we log a fault and Openserve closes it as end user issues like router/wifi issues they bill Afrihost an unnecessary call out fee. We have not once passed this cost on to any client but we can not continuously log faults and take these losses.

I understand that you are using a Mac and I can suggest getting a thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter to test. We need to be sure that the router is not faulty or that there is interference that might be causing the slow speeds.

We are more than willing to log the fault for you once we have these tests to motivate once we log the fault.

Why do you say the issue is with the ONT?
Afrihost said it was the ONT...the voice on the phone...they diagnosed the fault as a failing ONT, 2 weeks ago....but then tumbleweeds and excuses like thunderbolt cables...

oh jesus now I know you're a troll #blocked #fridaythread

I came home and the internet was offline, I opened the router page, cable disconnect, a call back and it was diagnosed as a failing LAN1... This was switched by openserve to LAN 2.. I have reported, and been told conflicting information, Afrinatic is confused, tells me 2 different things...

Good luck chuck - its way easier to cooperate than do the run around you're trying...

I have only cooperated, I reported a fault, the fault was diagnosed as a fault on LAN 1 on the ONT, that was changed to LAN 2, it improved for a while, I have logged a fault and now it sits at the openserve refuse as it was a wifi test, and Afrihost just "oh well, sucks to be a afrihost client, I still get my pay..."

We do not need to repave a brand new road, thanks for the suggestions, the fault is "faulty ONT" according to Afrihost, openserve refuse to acknowledge a fault due to "policy", afrihost refuse to defend clients against stupid "policy"...

Okay good luck and all the best man let us know how it goes.

Not normally one to jump into threads clearly created by people who do not understand the processes. But this thread clearly has two people who want to blame Afrihost for something that is not Afrihost's fault.

We have one user who hits a single stumbling block and cancels his order, instead of being an adult and speaking to Afrihost and seeing what can be done. Installations are done by 3rd party installers; some are good and some are bad. If you have a bad experience and you report it to your ISP then they can inform the FNO who will then likely not use that contractor again. Openserve is actually very fast when it comes to installations and would have dispatched another contractor to do the installation had you reported it, rather than just cancelling the order.

Then we have a user who doesn't understand that cable is king. The fact that you have an Apple product is not Afrihost's fault. Get a bloody USB to Ethernet adapter, make it USB-C and you get gigabit. Then you can run the tests that Afrihost needs in order to escalate your issue. If you aren't prepared to give them the information that they need then you are tying their hands behind their back. They cannot help if they do not have the evidence.
You want an AA DEKRA report for your car, well Afrihost needs proper tests all done on cable to prove that their is an issue.

Alas the power of the internet allows idiots to voice their opinions. You are entitled to your opinion, doesn't mean you are right and unless you actually know anything about FNOs, ISPs and networks I feel its best that you act like other people are far more knowledgable than you.

The solution is an app on the ONT or router...
Are you suggesting that Afrihost should write some kind of app, that runs on the ONT because you think that is where the problem is?
ONT's are not cellphones, you dont just install an app to add the functionality you want.

Yeah I know, you gave useful advice.
You miss the point completely, and that is a problem, you attack me and the original poster, without thinking about what the issue is...

The issue is not ours, the issue is the poor service we got from Afrihost, both are just as bad as each other.. Buying a cable does not solve the issue, it only makes it worse.. Afrihost should be in the corner of the client, that is what we pay them for...

Afrihost is like MasterCard/Visa.. We buy big ticket items through a credit card, for only 1 reason, if something goes wrong, Visa has a bigger club than I do... And no don't go there and say Afrihost is not a credit card company...

Afrihost, and all ISP's offer a service to us, when something goes wrong, they through their lawyers, or as member of ISPA, take the fight to openerve/vumatel... But this does not happen, and that is the issue...

When something like my being scammed, or this terrible install happens, we as single clients cannot really have might clout, but a big company with deep pockets and being members of ISPA, they can and should be doing something to stop openserve from defining the rules of the game, to say "we don't accept wifi tests" when almost everyone has a wireless device is stupid, openserve should have it's feet held to the fire and be forced to climb down from that high horse it is on.. It is arrogance, Afrihost by not fighting for clients is really just riding the same high horse....How can you not see this? The symptoms are what we report.. We pay Afrihost to represent us...To fight for us...
