I spoke too soon. Running updates and combined download speed on 10mbps line is right now between 150-300KB/s.

Cancelling end of this month. Speeds remind me of 1mbps where I used to have to sit and wait for a 480p Youtube video to buffer (which was expected of 1mbps). I can't remember when I was last able to stream a Youtube video at 480p on my 10mbps Business. Its infuriating. And no its not Telkom, no its not my line, its not some "infastructure" problem either, its purely my ISP (so Afrihost) who are over capacity and shaping.

International routing to Google cache servers and the such make Youtube make streaming even more atrocious. Wife isn't very happy either. And you know what they say. Happy wife = Happy life. Well leaves me no choice but to move.

Speedtest also not looking as good as always, normally get close to 4mb (3.98mb or so), but still not too bad

3,46 mbps USED to be my norm. Never got close to 3,97 mbps. Did a speedtest now on saix.net - 0,9 mbps.
This on a 4 mbps business uncapped. What a joke.
 
And so it unfolds that Business Uncapped (Unshaped) accounts / users across the country are experiencing erratic performance.

I have cancelled my account and at the end of this month I am with an ISP who doesn't use Telkom. I am experiencing the same issues mentioned by countless people in the post before mine. I cannot watch YouTube, Hulu or Netflix. I can barely browse...

I am on a 2Mbps Business Uncapped account. I gave up calling in and logging a ticket. I just increase my stress levels when I have to do a million tests repeatedly as requested by different support agents...having to repeat myself a million times...

NO AFRIHOST! YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE IS F**KED UP. SORT THIS ***** OUT!


The evidence is in these posts by so many people that your network infrastructure is gone for a ball of *****e! Stop blaming people's hardware, Telkom and other parties.
Its like saying: "Oh look your area is experiencing load shedding according to our schedule, when I clearly have power to make this post"

Get proper engineers who can fix the problem even if you have to fly them in from Cisco.
 
I have a theory here, now bear with me for a bit...

I think that Afrihost is purposefully throttling their top users due to the following:

1. They advertise that their "business" accounts are not throttled, so they can't admit it.
2. They are bleeding money due to their high usage users (that they brag about so openly), so MTN has told them to cut it down.
3. They can't tell their users to cut down, so they are manufacturing fake issues.
4. This gets the high end users to jump ship, and they never have to admit that they caused it on purpose.

The reason I believe this is, because when I dial up with another Afrihost account, I get my full bandwidth, but with my own, I can barely do a speed test. I mean, the speed test fails every now and then.

This is just a sly way for them to get rid of their top users.

Screw you Afrihost, I will complain every time my internet slows down, and you will sort it out every time.
 
Afripeople - For info - critical care has logged another fault with Telkom.
It amazing that they knew there was an issue but only chose to act after I threw a fit ... come now, AH is better than that.

You have over charged me - again - 3rd month in row now. The refund is R100 not R60 BTW.
Lets at least try to get something right here.

I almost feel as though I'm being shaped.. I can't stream 360p (or 1500kbps), but if I download a video (or p2p for that fact) I get 400kB/s. So strange?
