Thank you, so Hop 8 (MTN network) seems to be the problem, which is seems to be sitting in the UK..... :p

We've seen lots of improvements, so I don't think there's anything that needs to broad "fix me" button.
You're more than welcome to PM me a little more detail and I'll gladly have things looked into.

Same old same old....

The network is NOT working correctly. Anytime you apply a fix that is not stable, that is the clearest definition of "Fix Unsuccessfull", "Problem Remains" that there is in this industry (IT/Networking). No matter how you try to spin it, Afrihost has serious issues with their Management Software, as I said WEEKS before AH, and you REPS admitted it on here. In fact, look back at this thread to see how many complaints there have been immediately AFTER one of Afrihost's "fixes" (IPC/Tweaking/Optimising/Reconfiguration). All the words in brackets are the terms you have used at every stage to placate us, your PAYING clients, but without even ONE resolution that satisfies even 20% of your clients.

There are many people who have never even been on this forum, who have signed up just to voice their concerns and raise the fact of AH's poor performing network. THESE would be the same people you (AH) has claimed in the past that ARE getting what they pay for.... obviously NOT. The SAME issues have been described by countless people, from all over the country, different exchanges, regions, time of day - you name it. Call it what you will, but in anyone's book, THAT is a clear indication that what AH is doing to rectify network issues is NOT working. Furthermore, if you insist that the network is "FINE", than that means that nobody working on it has the faintest idea how to manage a network correctly, nor do they have a very high standard when it comes to service delivery and all-round STABILITY - working sporadically for a few hours a day when nobody can use the line, is NOT what a provider of ANY service should strive for.

WOW... the general lack of high standards in this country regarding service delivery is a very very sad state of affairs. It's a shame that services in this country on the whole are delivered as "best effort", including support.

If ICMP was blocked on certain IP ranges you would not see packet loss on Hop 8. As that is still within the MTN network.

It is, but on a peering level as opposed to local IPC.
I think it'll be best to get this logged with our Support team, I can escalate from there and track down and other trends.

Afriman/Afriguy/Afrigenie/Afrisomebody, is this pure internet joy?

ON a 4mbps business line by the way.

These results don't look healthy at all :(
Have you been able to run any further testing from a different ISPs account?

Is it just me or does thread go in circles?

But I live in hope .... enspired by this arb quote I just googled -

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas Edison

Now back to how to sort out the erratic speed issue .... this being the latest mail received.... which is very helpful at this point, after being informed its a line issue....

Our technical team have worked through the night for several days and are continuing to work towards improving our client’s internet experience. No expense or resource is being spared to resolve this as quickly as possible. We’d like to thank clients for their continued patience, and we hope to report more positive results very soon.

Well I ''hope to report more positive results very soon'' too .

Your turn ..... :D:D

Go look at ticket number KFW-754-37767 with all the speed tests, tracerts, etc and all emails between myself and Oscar - who hasn't responded to any of my emails since Thursday (maybe he is on leave).
This is absolute BS!!
