No change my side, sigh, I still don't understand why I need to come here to get support? It's been 7 hours and not even a "we are looking into it" from afrihost.

:(

I've just followed-up with Telkom, and your Exchange is currently offline, and is not accepting any connection requests. They are sending out Techs to investigate what the issue is. Telkom will update with me with an ETR once the Techs have completed the initial assessment.

Have you'll figured out what the problem is? when can you'll expect this to be fixed?

Switched over to CW's free 1 gig and google services are working speedtest is accessible.

Afrihost please get your **** together I mean honestly how long must we go on for where it's either one thing or another!

I think this may be DNS related, and I have a feeling this is related to the ongoing DDoS attack at Gallo Manor where our ADSL DNS is located, I'm just waiting for confirmation from our Team there.

Will you provide feedback and a possible time frame for when things will be up when you get an idea?

Hey Afrigenie,

I'm not so sure it is just DNS related as switching to google's dns doesn't help for me when on afrihost, google services are completely non responsive on the Afrihost network yet connecting to CW's is fine using google dns.

Okay, the slower than normal international throughput is not related at all to the DDoS at Gallo Manor. MTN has confirmed that there is reduced throughput on the International links at the moment, they were already investigating, and are confident they should have things back to normal on that front momentarily.

Trace complete.

My traceroute looks identical, but it is resolving on both my FireFox and Chrome browsers.

Can you please check which DNS Servers your modem is set to use at the moment.

Ok ive been using the AH DNS 196.7.7.7 & 196.7.8.9.

But ive now changes it to googles DNS and https://remote.bittorrent.com/ is now working, i shall now use googles dns in future.

I think this may actually be related to the issue that we have with reduced international throughput at the moment, MTN almost has everything running normally again, so we'll need to see if the issue persists.

I hope so.

While there is a problem with international, this may affect overall contention depending on where the problem is occurring in terms of routing, caching etc. We know the network is problematic so testing right now is not going to reveal much while there are known problems :(
