FFS, my wife was moaning about the internet speed, I'm not home so I go onto the clientzone to tweak the line and it's dropped from 4096 to 2048 again. How do I fix this again?

switch isps ? :D

Could be the DSLAM stabilising the line, drop me a PM with the number and I can have it stabilised for you :)

Shocking speeds in Cape Town again. Youtube buffers, sites take forever.
Telkom account 100's
Webafrica account 100's

This is getting tiring now guys :(
It makes my heart sore :p

Edit: Just did a test on youtube, same video... Afrihost 568 Kbps, Telkom 2982 Kbps

Not great at all :(
Are these results quite up and down or are they fairly consistent?

I started a 10 threaded download from Microsoft (SQL Server 2014 ISO) to test, it seems pretty consistent.

The ADSL line is a backup line in case our fibre dies. We did a line down simulation today, people complained about the speed so I did a speed test when we brought the fibre back up.

25th is looming.....
If I do not get the 6MB connection I am paying for, I am out of this AH "contention" nightmare and taking my hard earned money elsewhere.

If your IPC upgrade does by some miracle happen before thos Friday, I will consider staying on for another month.

The thing that really push my buttons is that before this "upgrade" when everyone was complaining about the issues my internet was at least workable, like streaming wasn't too bad and gaming was fine accept for the occasional spike or so. But now it's all going about as fast as a snail uphill........

I'll wait for this "miracle IPC capacity" to "fix" the issues in the south(CT) and see where we go from there.........

When are the streaming issues going to get resolved? If not within the next week, I am cancelling my account. This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

Same here, not going to fall for promises of "upgrades within 10 days" that will just lock you in for another month.

Can't authenticate atm. Rebooting router for umpteenth time. Anyone else having issues?

Edit: Tried my 1GB free Web Africa account and it connected instantly. Godamnit Afrihost.

I had authentication issues 5 minutes ago. I rebooted the router and it logged in again.

No need to wait for the 25th. You can cancel now. If it starts working after the 25th you can just make a new account, if not move on.

definitely very poor. I see demand was pretty high in the South so we desperately need those upgrades to come through from Telkom so we can troubleshoot. From past experience, these issues should be immediately once we upgrade.

We are also continuing to look at ways to improve overall network efficiency to ensure that we use our capacity as effectively as possible.

It's very hard to give definitive answers when there is a known capacity issue. I'm sure that when we upgrade this will improve, but we're not intentionally acting on SQL traffic in any way.
