Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

I sincerely hope that the current experience on the Business Accounts for the mentioned protocols NZB and Torrent is just incorrect prioritization and that it is fixed quickly.

I read further back you say 10 days before this is fixed (capacity)? Serious? That's a 1/3rd of a month that I am paying for a service where I am not getting what I need. Hmmmmm, my monthly bill to Afrihost is R1600, I have a couple of ADSL accounts, lines and mobile SIMS.

Please don't take this personal Afriman, if it is DNS issues, then fix it, if it is capacity then fix it, and AH be more transparent than a brick wall. AH can also give us discount or a refund so that we can at least buy bandwidth from another provider to download NZB and Torrents with. I am sadly really disappointed in Afrihost.

Just frustrated customer!

I understand your frustration. We're still investigating if there is a DNS issue. The difficulty with these is that they are often intermittent and hard to pin down, but our team are working on this. In terms of capacity, we are definitely putting the financial and technical resources in place to deliver the best experience we can. I promise that there are no delays on our side in terms of pushing this through.

It's also disingenuous of you to state that Afrihost isn't shaping/throttling/etc... when you've been proven to do so or blame an iOS update for all the traffic issues you've had on your network even though those have also been proven to be present well before said iOS update.

Also, I'm commenting on things being said about products and experiences not the products and experiences themselves.

PS: I think you meant to say the "thread" is for client feedback, not "forum".

You are welcome to comment from your perspective, but I think it would be more transparent to state clearly that you are not a client and do not use this product, hence you are commenting on perceived information and not first hand experience.

Yes, the threads that are labelled as Afrihost Feedback threads are intended for clients (as per the Mod's note) at the beginning of this thread.

If you are having problems, rather use the SAIX or IS DNS (you can use Google DNS or OpenDNS as your secondary).

Many services use your DNS server location to determine which CDN to use - Youtube and Steam are examples. (Yes Steam has a manual overwrite, but on auto it will base it on the closest CDN to your DNS server.)

Just some food for thought.
Local DNS servers typically resolve quicker for me as well.

Local DNS is definitely faster, but it's generally just to test if certain functionality improves or changes with new DNS settings. IN the long term, we always prefer our clients to use Dynamically assigned DNS for day to day service.

Having a lot of issues on my 6Mbps account. Can't even stream Youtube properly. Really hoping this gets fixed soon. First time I have had to use my Telkom backup account. :(

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you having slow speeds and latency issues or experiencing no connection at all?

Which region are you in?

I'm not sure what was discussed in the email. PM me so I can get that ticket reference to see what was done.

Sorry Afriman, was not an e-mail, I meant posting on this board. But, it seems to have been temporarily only. I am sure you and the other AH staff is on this and will have it resolved.

I'm in Pretoria East. Most websites load ok but throughput, specially on youtube is quite slow. Usually I can stream 1080p without any issues and now sometimes I even have to drop to 240p to be able to watch. Also last night I had issues with pings in World of Warcraft where normally I get 280ms to the US servers I was bouncing between 700ms-1500ms.

Uploading my backups did seem to go at full 1mbps upload, but generally browsing has been a little sluggish as well. Today is slightly better on the basic browsing side.

Would you kindly move on. If you're no longer a client then well that's that - life goes on.

Some of us are actually clients and would like to use this thread constructively.

I know all about bad experiences with ISPs - but really, just move move on...you are no longer affecting the company that you feel has wronged you, but rather the people who are still using their service (i.e. people just like you before you left).

And I'm not trying to start a fight here, just please let us use this thread for it's intended purpose.

We're obviously still having some demand issues affecting overall performance while we wait for the North to be upgraded. I'm concerned that you're seeing latency though. Can you please PM me?

Really sorry about the slow speeds :(
They'll be flying soon though, upgrades are on the way!

Hmmm, soon? Such a vague word. Today? Tomorrow? Within 10 days? This is not helping the decision of should I buy an account at another provider?

Interesting is that my Torrents are doing better this afternoon, just NZB's thats dead. Mors dead.

Yeah this has been going on for long now, downloaded 24 megs since 5 this morning. I understand and i think we have been patient but im starting to wear down now. I dont want to leave AH as they have been good but it seems i might have to :(

Mod_note: These threads are clearly designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs - not for disgruntled former customers to vent, not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond.

We're pushing Telkom as hard as possible, as per the article yesterday we hope to see the upgrades in place within the next 10 days.

whoa... something just happened to the network.... my NZB's just went from 20kb/s (for the past 6 hours) and now... about 10min ago.... I am running at full speed
