Okay so, Teamspeak shows that i have 10-20ms with 0-2% packet loss, but I just played a Smite game, but it was little laggy, like the game stops for 0.01 and then some guy blink in front of me and attacking at least it give me enough time to respond but still, but I see improvement, my in game latency is 189ms but the problem lies with the jitter with 16ms, which causing that small lag spike.

At this point the Team is pretty sure what the issue is, and now it is just a case of rectifying the issue, that time-frame however is what we're not sure of.

If the team are pretty sure I think most here would appreciate some kind of indication as to what the "issue" is. Surely that's not too much to ask? Based on an acknowledgement and transparency I think a lot would not feel so aggravated.

It's the being in the dark that gets people's back up.

The issue has primarily been with the network management tools that we have available to us, and that it isn't entirely the tool set we would prefer to use. I can't go into much more detail than that.

How often are you seeing this jitter? Smite primarily runs from a European server correct?

Maybe they can also explain why their network status page shows GREEN all the way...clearly HIDING their mess to the general public that might be in a position of shopping for a new ISP.

I must admit that is the thing that has annoyed me the most over the past several months too. In the Days when Afrihost really were the best ISP the Status page was one of the things that made them so. If I or one of my clients had the slightest issue I could look there and instantly see if it was a known issue and being worked on. No need to sit in a queue and jump through hoops with the call centre. It saved my time, the clients piece of mind and more importantly left the help desk lines open for those with an unrelated problem to get through.

When they stopped updating it, and the Help desk started saying I was the only one with problems, despite the fact that I only called after several other people had reported it too, I started moving business clients off Afrihost. I couldn't trust my reputation to their support.

Now it is a total disaster, I absolutely refuse to call any longer, if you can get through at all you are treated like an idiot.

When they stopped using the status page I knew there were big problems and the fact that they still don't use it implies to me that we can't trust anything we are told. Too much focus has shifted to marketing and market capitalisation and a company that used to come across as user focused, now unfortunately it comes across as corporate greed.

I feel sorry for the Afrigeeks, they are trying their best to be Customer focused but they have zero management backing.

Fix the problems and I will keep my home account and my mobile data with them, but all of my clients and my own business network are lost to them for good as a result of abandoning the status page.

The shaper manager was over-active. As I said. Hell I worked that out on day 1.

Going forward I think that is perhaps the aspect that we will work most on getting back to what it was at previously. We're also looking at many some fundamental changes to our Support Infrastructure, and this will play an important part of the changes we're making with regards to the notice board and its integration into the new Afrihost App.

It only started two weeks ago, it is EU and US, but I play on the EU region and the servers run from Amsterdam server. I find it super weird, that my latency is 189ms but I'm getting these spikes then I saw there is latency undereath it, and if it higher than 10ms it causes that weird lag spike. It only occurs when our local ping started to do weird lag spikes, like 10ms then 60ms then 45ms and soon on. I don't know really the cause of the jitter but it kinda annoying xD.

The jitter usually means that the routing between your connection and the server is not as stable as it could be. I've asked our Critical Care Team to check on that routing to see if we can find out where that instability is happening.

Server: news.afrihost.co.za

Status: Enabled

# Connections: Failed to connect: (10060, "(10060, 'Operation timed out')") [email protected]:119

Can't replicate the error on my end, but it does seem really slow from our end :( If I enable other news servers it picks up to line speed though.

I got that last night. It was working today though.
