Hey,
Question for 10mbps or 20mbps Capped accounts 75GB+75GB specifically (looking at bundles).
It is cheaper to get the 20mbps account than the 10mbps, can one purchase the 20mbps account and sync lower instead?
Thanks.
(Most I think I can sync at is 10-12)

It is cheaper indeed, I'll double check with our team - although I'm sure their maths would make more sense than mine :)
Anyway, you can opt for that package and stick to your line sync.

Edit: This is because of the VDSL price drop, because ADSL didn't see a price drop too the 20Mbps line becomes cheaper in this case. I'm off to get some coffee now.

Afriman can you check what line speed my line is syncing?

I applied for a move from 20mb VDSL to 40mb and now I get this. They actually dropped the speed

Something is wrong here

Sheeesh.. them iOS updates are hitting your Afrihost account quite hard hey!

But rest assured Afrihost is monitoring the demand down South and ensuring that your internet experience is the best it can be.

I'm tempted by the double data deal. I plan to use the account mainly for streaming so unshaped is very important to me. I am concerned from the reviews I have read that MTN backbone accounts have issues with streaming. Is this true?

Our Capped accounts are unshaped, 24/7 :) Streaming shouldn't be a problem.

Whats the issues? I've seen lots of people comparing which is really disappointing

We're seeing some increase in demand across our network - however this is only affecting speeds quite intermittently.

Speeds generally have been good this evening (6Mbit line: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/2717465477.png).

Streaming with YouTube is always been great in my experience. Twitch.tv on the other and is touch and go. For example I can do 1080p on YT right now but can't do Twitch on high quality (which is 720p).

Hahaha dont believe everything Afri peeps tell you. I cancelled both my capped acc with them. While I am writing this Hulu is buffering like mad. They have over subscription problems which they will not admit.

Hi Afriman,
I logged a ticket this weekend and they reset the port this morning, pings seem better now. The speed is still lower than that of the alternative ISP, and speed is still half what it was from yesteryear, I'd like my speed to return, seeing as I down'd to capped just to get "proper" speeds back.
2717485006.png 3796422917.png

My clientzone cannot run the test my line tool, it 'runs' then minutes later a yello error reports that the test failed and I should try again. everytime. The sync speed reports my 4Mb line is running at 3Mbps, and these statistics were last updated in March, attempting to update the stats to see if I'm running 4Mbps or not fails as well.

This was also in my ticket but was not addressed or resolved.

Here are the tester results
