I did a test on telkom site to see what the max speed of my libe is. It says 10mb. Afrihost clientzone said 4mbps. Am I missing something? Am I able to get 10mbps if I move my line back to telkom? Lol.

Sometimes these things can be wrong. What adsl mode are you connecting with, g.dmt or adsl2+? That might give you an idea about your exchange. If you PM TelkomZA, you should get an accurate answer there :)

Thanks for response. I have dlink router. I don't know what g.dmt or adsl2+ is or the difference between them. How would I check this?

g.dmt is the old style exchange supporting 4mb, adsl2+ is for 10mb exchange, so if you connecting adsl2+ with 4mb line, you should be able to get 10mb, depending on your lines SNR and attenuation.

All this should be in your router somewhere, normally under stats.

Ok thanks. Wiah they would include this info with setup instructions. Will take a look.

No problem, but I would still PM TelkomZA if you want to get the full story, sometimes it's possible to change your exchange that you connect to aswell.

I saw in modem settings that it was g.dmt. the other options are enabled but I guess it is using the other settings by default because I on 4mbps package. Modem also reports max line at 10mbps. So I realised that it must have been updated by Telekom after they stole my telephone cables ealier this month. Have requested 10mbps line. #happiness

Seven days, two follow ups and I'm still waiting for my line speed increase. If SOMEONE could just freaking up my speed... That'd be great.

Sorry about this. Can you drop me a PM so I can look into this?

So speed tests tell my my line speed is 1Mbps, afrihost client zone tells me its 3Mbps and tech support told me I'm mistaken, its 4Mbps...

My account went from uncapped, to capped, to I'm lookking for an honest opinion on who my new ISP is going to be.

I logged a support ticket about my horrible connection speed and got zero phukkall response.

If possible, tell me why my 4Mbps line cannot ONCE play a 360p video off youtube, I can't ouch a 720p stream with a ten foot pole, my normal downloads are retarded-(downloading the awesome afrihost tester tool at a whopping 6,5kb/s... really?)-ly slow and I don't bother attempting torrents anymore...

the latency is definitely concerning. I see that later you posted much better latency on another network. We're definitely very concerned about this. Our network team are closely monitoring reports and performance and we're giving them all the feedback we can from the forums. I'm sure they will continue to make improvements :(

I did a test on telkom site to see what the max speed of my libe is. It says 10mb. Afrihost clientzone said 4mbps. Am I missing something? Am I able to get 10mbps if I move my line back to telkom? Lol.

There are sometimes inconsistencies depending on when Telkom update their tables and their API into our systems.

Drop me a PM and I'll check what their direct system portal shows us :(

I have a big Battlefield 4 patch coming tomorrow so please for the love of all that is holy do not shape me. Rather shape all the uncapped peeps to 4% :whistling:

On a positive note I see AH reduced the prices of VDSL lines. 40mb already applied for. Hoping I get the bump soon :D

We definitely won't shape capped accounts. We're still tightening up on how we shape to make sure throughput and latency are what they should be.

VDSL is looking vert attractive. If I were on an MSAN, I'd definitely be jumping on 40Mbps right now :)

Hi Afriman

I see that I have been billed my usual amount for my 20mbps VDSL + 100 gig capped bundle. When will the new VDSL pricing be effective for existing bundled clients?

My saving won't be massive since I was on an old bundle price but thought I'd check nonetheless.

Thanks :)

The new VDSL pricing will be reflected in your bill at the end of the month :)
