If anyone else is having problems with the feed just a heads up.
My line speed tests to USA are fine but coverage is intermittent on NASA TV.
NASA have apologised that the site is receiving far more hits on the stream than they expected and are working to get more bandwidth.

Ustream seems pretty stable for me, much better than the NASA stream

It has a couple of seconds lag but definitely a better resolution, I had NASA TV dropped to lowest setting. Thanks

Damn that is one fast bird, ~30724 Kilometers per Hour after the second burn.
Even Thor's internet connection is not that fast :)

Some say his internet connection was used by NASA for the local tracking station :p
This guy is like the Stig... of VDSL.

I was going to ask if Afriguy found out anything about Telkom and Cape Town, but with loadshedding it's not really at the top of the importance list.

I've been digging all day, and can't find anything useful :(
I know personally, my streaming is a bit off and the connection dips every now and then - so not sure if some exchanges are doing weird things with all the load shedding or Telkom have a specific issue on metro ethernet in the CPT region.

... I am not authorized and can neither confirm nor deny that statement.

Debatable... :P

I decided to return to Afrihost after being with another ISP for a while. This time round I went for one of the capped options as it is more cost effective for my current needs.

However, it seems to be eternally slow. I noticed this on Monday already and throughout the week it never improved. It takes 90 seconds just to load this forum page.

Is there currently a network issue or is this what I can expect from your capped offering?

The loading shedding seems to be causing some problems at the moment, but you should definitely not have had any issues since Monday.

Could you please send me your ADSL details via a PM so that I can look into this for you.

If you are based in Cape Town... Boy oh boy are you in for a surprise. ( Thank you telscum )

Note the forum was slow this week across all platforms.

Luckily my Cap account is gorgeous :P

Congestion can still take place on a DSLAM level, maybe the port isn't configured correctly.
What's your experience like now?

Well it's 21:50 atm and everything is working 100%.
During the day, downloads are fine, including p2p, it's just browsing, news clips etc that are slow, stick etc, very frustrating.
Out here in the country we know all the Telkom techies personally and they do tests etc and verify all is well on their side.
I'll get a free 1 GB test package else where next week and see how that goes.

Nope, not in CPT. I switched to Capped as well, but to date the experience is not so great.

Pingtimes 1800+, 70% lost packets...

Looks like AfriGenie is offline now. Anybody else that can help me?

Shiat not good. I am not aware of any acknowledged issues on AF.

Did you test with say a free 1Gb openweb account to rule out line fault

Something is wrong, getting ridiculously high pings on a local gaming server. Here's my tracert to the server. Please resolve?

Any AH rep out there? I sent a request to AfriGenie last night but it looks like he is offline now. I also logged ticket MII-299-92666.

Urgent assistance is needed.

So I just connected after load shedding and switched to my AH account to play some games. It's getting some traffic through (games, pings etc) but no HTTP traffic? Any idea what's going on?
