So I just connected after load shedding and switched to my AH account to play some games. It's getting some traffic through (games, pings etc) but no HTTP traffic? Any idea what's going on?

Yup, same here. Facebook (https) works, not much else

My Afrihost accounts are also limited... can get to Afrihost.co.za and the ClientZone, but everything else is dead. Zero international access.

Axxess too.

Using WebAfrica account here to post this, it works with no problem.

I'm another one only able to communicate over HTTPS most of the time. (But even this is not constant -- my SSL connections are much more reliable than anything else, but they also go occasionally. Like right now, when I have nothing.)

I can only access afrihost.com and gmail.
Fortunately I opened a WebAfrica 1gig free account to test and so I am using that.

As usual the Status page is all GREEN
Clipboard01.png

I love the wording:
"Here you can see the status updates of our DSL, Mobile and Hosting networks, whats affecting them - if anything, and what the cause is."

But it never once has as a result we all run around testing trying to prove that there is a fault with Afrihost and not our lines etc...

They are not getting my vote this year, but then they did't last year and still won.

How is it possible for AH not to know when a gateway fail - even after hours - I mean really !

It is what used to be 24 Hour support, Afrihost support is now week days only office hours, despite all claims to the contrary.
Any fault on the weekend you need a backup ISP as it won't even be looked at till Monday morning.

I wonder if their own staff actually use the service, you would expect someone to have noticed and at least updated the status page by now.

I cannot do anything but access clientzone.co.za, where on moron in support said its my port causing errors. I have ttied posting tracerts so no moron can say something like that again, but your support system seems to chuck it out the window.

I can tracert without an issue, just can't access any site due to it timing out I guess.

I am on the verge of leaving, there have just been too many problems.

Oh, I called support as well, guess what? One is just dropped after the message, no telephonic support. This is a time when you should, again I might add, have a lot of support available to calm clients down and try and solve an issue.

Afrihost is just dead for most things, and their continued green Network Status doesn't improve my confidence in their ability to stay on top of their network. Switched over to WebAfrica account and all is fine.

It looks like Web Africa is going to see a lot of extra users in cape town, probably permanently, as it looks like all of is in the cape have just fired up web africa accounts.

Well I wanted to test them so lets see how Web Africa do for streaming tonight.

I recon we can forget Afrihost till Monday.

That's what I did testing my WA account now till Monday.

Something clearly happened on AF as this is not a coincidence.

So this is a test if they don't give me a transparent answer on monday either via pm or here on the thread then I vote with my wallet and move :)

Must be an MTN issue if both ah and access are down

And not just the MTN ADSL Backbone, My Afrihost Mobile account is showing "Network Communication issues" on my phone too.

So they sell me both the Primary Bandwidth with a much more expensive Backup in the event of ADSL downtime and both Afrihost products fail at the same time.

This has to go down in history as the best Network Management of all time.

This country has gone to the dogs, I spent all morning with no Electricity (It came up for just over an hour between 8:30 and 10, just long enough to really mess up my laptop battery.) and now I face an afternoon and Evening, probably weekend, without internet.

And we are meant to Pay up and Shut up.
