This is utter bs. I've stood by ah through all the months of issues. This is really the straw that has broken the camels back.

I just got a reply, well it is time stamped 8PM but I only just read it:

The problem of how the DNS resolves websites and services lays on MTN's network,
I have been instructed to inform you that MTN is currently in process of resolving the issue.

In my honest opinion, this should be resolved within 1-2 hours. I hope you have a great evening further and enjoy the weekend ahead.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

As frustrating as this is... it's clearly not Afrihost. Can't access the internet via my MTN postpaid as well.
I'm not having a good time with MTN. Coverage in CPT is abysmal. Had a complete blowup with them before they admitted CPT issues.
Geez... this sucks.

We are all just imagining it, the network status page says everything is OK so it must be OK
They would never use that to mislead us, it is a true reflection of the State of the network, we were told that in no uncertain terms only 2 weeks ago. :)

But on the up side I did prove that Web Africa can stream with no glitches from any server on a Saturday evening, probably the busiest time of the week. Although a lot of other users could have been offline courtesy of ESKOM at the time.

It just seems MTN is not equipped to deal with the Eskom issues well enough. Which is quite poor planning for such a large company, they really should be expecting the worst.

Nothing better than a rant to trigger reposts ... hahahahaha
I have had 3 or 4 rants this evening, I know how you feel :)

I just figured that Afrihost wouldn't bother to update the thread so as I had promising inside info I owe it to all of us to share :)

Vox is treating me well. Uncapped weekends. During the week I alternate afrihost and web Africa. Glad i can avoid the current issues.

I like how Afristhost has a green status of their network and Axxess has a orange for 'Medium impact'. Medium impact is when some things are slow or for intermittent issues, not when it does not work at all, the network is screwed tell it like it is and put a big red dot at the top of your websites to show this.

But Afrihost owns Axxess and MTN owns Afrihost, the name of the game is now image over service.

Indicating a fault publicly would damage the image, Axxess being one step further removed from MTN are allowed to show slightly better customer service, but still not allowed to admit to a failure on behalf of MTN, Afrihost can't even do that without asking first by the looks of it.

It is all about Marketing and Milking the cash cow now hence shorter call center / support hours, Bundled Packages and add on's like Plus+, all designed to confuse and hide true value like a reliable network and a fixed price per gig.

Every time I say "I am out of here" they get it running great just before the cancellation date, and yet the day after the debit run the wheels fall off again.

I am beginning to think I am stupid to keep falling for it but having had several good years with them I felt I owed them a chance to show it was a minor hiccup. This is definitely crunch month. New Year, New ISP unless they pull a damn big rabbit out of the hat and drop the BS promises of "Pure Internet Joy".
