Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Mine is dead slow... I only really use it for Torrents, but JOH! Slow slow slow slow... and I have 4GB left.
Here is a joke for you today!
My OpenWeb uncapped account is faster than my Afrihost capped account...

I see this was resolved by using a different account. That's pretty odd though, I would have liked to troubleshoot a little more to see if the problem was with the IP assigned or the account itself :(

So my internet light just went red for a second then came back on again. All internet traffic obviously died. Same thing happened last night though around the same time.

I remember reading a while back someone else had this issue with Afrihost, where every night at around 12 the session would drop and then reconnect. What is going on?

We do reset accounts if they are constantly connected for 3 days, and this usually happens around midnight. However we do a bulk session reset (doesn't not disconnect the account, or it shouldn't) every night at midnight to ensure that capping and account profiles are up to date.

We are also having problems at our branch in Cape Town.
The DSL light is on steady, but we have no connectivity.

I did, 2 weeks ago with Afrihost, and no feedback yet! Ticket: BVZ-653-74907

Looks like severe congestion to me. After a port reset performance usually does improve briefly but will settle back to congested performance after 10-15 minutes max.

Well it happens every day! Some nights for a few hours. Is the call still with Telkom?

Have a lot of streaming issues lately. Last night we could only watch 3 minutes at a time, then wait for 3-5minutes while it buffers.
Speedtest reports no issues ...

Really irritating!

If it's congestion, Telkom won't address it as a fault. Telkom have constant reports and they schedule exchange upgrades nationally based on this.

That's really horrible. YouTube was pretty normal for me this weekend. Can you post the speedtests and traceroutes you ran?

Is this a 4Mbps line? Looks pretty average from that test.

Yes.
That is the problem. Speedtest is fine, but can't stream anything.
Must add, that it is not always a problem. Mostly when you really want to watch something.

Hmmm, that definitely sounds off, you should rarely, if ever have streaming issues on a 4Mbps line, which streaming services are you experiencing issues with?

Various Kodi/XBMC plugins (Genesis, etc).

I am not too familiar with some of the XBMC plug-ins, but do you perhaps know from where the content is streamed? Or perhaps even just the destination IP?

That is something I will have to check.
I have seen a Google Video URL for one stream, but I will get more detailed information tonight.

Thanks! You can either post here on this thread, or you can send me a PM with the details.
