Then to top it off...

On Afrihosts's Auto assigned DNS servers:

Now my two questions;

1. Why are all the traceroutes' 3rd and 4th hops different everytime?
2. Why would your DNS servers not resolve properly? (even in the last hop of the traceroutes!)

The third and fourth hops can vary depending on the routing that is being used, our network will try to keep the balance, so it will adjust the routing depending on network load, and current network traffic levels.

What do you mean by the DNS servers not resolving correct in the traceroutes? In all the traceroutes that you posted the traceroute is run to the actual server where the respective services are hosted.

i only use 3 and see packet loss on these servers,i will try others tonight and see if its server specific

If you see packet loss to those servers tonight, can you please take a few screenshots and send those through to me, I would definitely want our Team to look into this.

The issue that started on Friday evening specifically only started on Friday evening, if you experienced any latency or packet loss before then we'll need to look into this as an individual case.

Are you seeing packet loss in general or only during specific times? To which sites or services are you noticing this?

Are you serious? :( Your team can easily replicate this by joining a TS server during peak times. It is a GENERAL problem, multiple people have told you guys here on this forum.

PLEASE stop making this out to be individual problems.

:(

Apart from the issues noted over the weekend, I've only had specific reports from four different users about packet loss to Team Speak Servers, our Critical Care team is investigating those cases, but I still need to get the full details, as it could easily be an unrelated issue.

I cannot generalize and assume that each and every issue reported is linked to issues raised earlier.

Apologies, I should have checked how things were after I got home now before that post. I am currently getting 26ms and 0 packet loss to my TS server in CT.

Maybe the issues were related? I will let you know if things change.

No problem at all Dude! :)

As I said, I have to take each query or issue raised on it's own merits, but I can understand how it looks if we keep posting the same requests for information.

Afrihost 10mb capped speed test

Good Day,
On Friday, I have changed from a 2mb uncapped business account, to a 10mb capped account.

Is this the following in line with everyone else with a 10mb capped account? Seems slightly slow, or is it just me?
The ping is awesome though..

Thanks for the feedback.

That is not bad for a 10Mbs line mine is normal in the the high 5.X to low 6.X range so if anything yours is faster than mine.
It all depends on the local exchange and the state of the copper lines.

It could be the maximum supported sync for the DP/ DSLAM in the area. What are your router sync stats looking like?

Packet loss has returned. Surprise surprise. Just got out of a CS game with 20%+ loss....

Lets just say my mood has deteriorated.

Yeah I don't even bother using my AH account for gaming at night. Just not worth it. Even my mumble cuts out from loss.

Thankfully I've got a backup Telkom account that works like a champ.

Not cool, really sorry about this :(
Any tests that you can paste here for me to look at?

Do you have so many routing options this close to the single IPC? Firstly your DNS could not resolve "google.com" and secondly look at Hop 14, two of the tree traces resolve the server differently and one doesn't even resolve the server name.

Same here on PS4! I have actually raised this issue twice in the past, but it seems Afrihost chooses to ignore the issue until masses of people complain.

so other TS seem fine but dota 2 keeps cutting out(stutter game play ) from packet loss.

Thanks for the reply,

According to the router, downstream is 8128 kbps and upstream 960 kbps.
So yes not bad at all. Pretty much getting what i should out of the line.

Thanks again. Regards.

Note: all my latency issues regarding CS:GO seems to be resolved. Have been running smoothly since last week Thursday. (Pretoria - Equestria area)

packet loss in game 2.jpg

This is what I have to deal with.

Edit: As you can see from roadcat's post, you do not notice the packet loss when streaming or browsing. Everything seems hunky dory. When you try and game however, its a different story.

PingTest shows 0% loss.

Same here

Though i play bf4 ,my game stats are dropping and seems like one shot kills

On web africa it was so smooth

We have multiple servers for ClientZone and our corporate website for loadshedding and redundancy, so it's very likely that you're being routed differently depending on the traffic.

I can't replicate the error with Google not resolving on my side, so I am not sure what is going on there. I'll keep testing though.
