The latency on the third hop is definitely too high, this is probably what is affecting your speed in general.

I've reset your ADSL Line, can you please restart your modem and see if there is any change in your latency and speeds.

I've reset and see no difference in performance.

test after router reset.

Okay, in terms of available IPC capacity, there are definitely not any issues at the moment.

I panicked for a moment as a I saw a significant drop in demand in both the North and South at the same time at 17h00, and I immediately assumed something went wrong. This however corresponds with when Eskom initiated Stage 1 load-shedding almost to the minute.

If you are online and have power at the moment you are obviously not being loadshedded, but your Exchange may be in an area that is, and so there may be an increase in latencies.

No Landline? No Problem

He got that right at least, but it should have said - "No Landline = No ADSL = No Afrihost Uncapped = No Problem"

I post this problem to critical care last night again

This was the reply shocking

Hi Thorsten

Pranav here from Afrihost Critical Care.

I have speaking with our technical team who manages our network and they are still monitoring the network and will be making the necessary changes.

I have also mentioned the problems you're experiencing and they are using your query / adsl account as an example to work on.

I'll keep you posted with more feedback as I receive it from our technical team.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Pranav

What app are you using to show speeds?

Download these two apps, connect to the VPN and see if you still have the same results.

I don't understand the shock? They said they are working on it, using your ADSL connection as a base point.

The iTunes servers are located in the US, so the latency is a bit high, but more or less in the expected range.

The latency on the hop corresponding to your Exchange keeps going up. :(

Are you getting those sorts of latencies at all times of the day?

Been like this since 3PM

Meaning what? My exchange is the problem?
