Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

We've seen some known issues with Twitch that have these kind of symptoms.

Are you seeing the same on other streaming services like YouTube?

Youtube often switches between 720p and 480p, while watching a video. Overall it seems that the speed quality is very sporadic, which causes these bursts and then sudden drops. This could be due to heavy contentions. Looking at speednet graphs, it looks like mountain ranges and this is affecting real-time services the most.

I'll wait till the 18th and will report back.

Terrible performance in CPT at the moment.
247kbps  on my 10mbps line.
Worse than it's ever been.
Afriman... feedback please.

Sorry that performance is so poor at the moment. We should really do some troubleshooting here to make sure that this is definitely IPC related - otherwise we should see the issues go away after the upgrade, which is also confirmation, I guess.

Drop me a PM and we can discuss what's the best solution for you.

Any kind of compensation for pain and suffering - like.......mmmmmmm..........aaaaaaaaaahh, say triple your cap for the next 6 months

I know there's been some pain here, and I think the main concern should be to resolve the issues and make that immediate pain go away.

Let's see how we feel when this is sorted - but I'm sure our directors are also racking their brains to think of ways to reward clients for sticking with us :)

I have to say that last night from around 9pm I did not have any issues and was able to get full line speed. So well done on getting that level of service back before the upgrade. Can only imagine that it is going to be even better from tomorrow.

Now just patiently waiting for news of what you guys are going to do for the capped bundles long term instead of the mystery bonus topups

We're always working to optimise the network for best performance. We're seeing a reduced amount of traffic this week, probably de to the upcoming holiday - so that has helped us to get a little more performance out.

I can't confirm if we are changing prices just yet - but hopefully we can continue to delight our clients one way or another :)

Hi there

Why are the capped accounts performing so much better? I thought that they were unshaped so they should run full speed ahead whenever you use them. But yet the last 2 days my capped account is so so so much faster and stable? Were the capped accounts handicapped in any way with the IPC shortage?

Yes it was hampered by the lack of IPC.
It wasn't shaped, just a lack of capacity.

Hi All

I'm from Gauteng, should not have made a impact.
Unless international problems?

Hi All

Would somebody please tell me where the refer a friend link is on the new client zone.
I can switch to the old 1, but it doesn't give an option to refer for mobile data

So have all the issues been resolved now?
I'm cancelling my Telkom uncapped account and looking for a new ISP with a capped account.

So far so good. I'm in Jhb and my capped account is flying.

Wait until Wednesday or Thursday to see if there's any complaints.

I was getting close to 8 on my 10Mb line yesterday, but only 650k upload.
