Seeing abysmal speed on my Afrihost capped account this morning - in the Cape Town area.

Getting full speed when I test on a Web Africa trial account, see results below. ...Is anyone else experiencing the same?

I've been away from my internet the last while... what's going on with the international speeds? Youtube is okay, and some streaming is fine. But any sort of http downloads are really bad. Grabbing a manual for my TV and it's packing out a whopping 80KB/s.... on a 10Meg line.

Got back to PE from 2 days away in Plett and speeds are sucking.

Seems back to pre-IPC problems.

If it stays like this I'm leaving Afrihost. Enough is enough.

EDIT:

Seems fine now at 4:30pm. Will monitor.

OK, I'm tired of paying for a 10mbps service and getting 5. I've just done a speedtest with no-one else on the line and my speed was around 4mbps. Does that mean that if I switch to a 4Mbps circuit that I'll be running at full speed, or will it peak at 2mbps? Anyone know? I have a capped account with Afrihost so it's not that I'm in the uncapped pool.

You must be having line or exchange issues.

Definitely seeing an improvement. Was waiting for today for things to get back to normal after the holidays.

The constant packet loss issue I had during office hours is now gone, I hope it stays like this. :)

with 345ms ping to local cape town, you will have to contact support.
Looks like your line or exchange issues, but not a problem with Afrihost IPC or lack of capacity.
I monitor my line constantly.
Nothing wrong with it.

Trace route also shows up fine.
 
The ping is far too high in the speedtest :( Where you running any network activity at the time? There may be intermittent issues on the line.

Nothing running, as you can see the IS account was fine, just minutes later.. But I will monitor it, hopefully the ping will come down :)
