Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Anybody else having problems with their clientzone.

I get an Oops Error on trying to access my capped account.

Also had authentication problems on ADSL connection, but that seems to be working now.

Pretty strange, definitely not a general problem that I am aware of.

Drop me a PM if this happens again :(

Getting last weekends hellish latency again, seriously what is up Afrihost? I've been with you for two weeks only and they have not been smooth

That looks like it could be on your exchange or on your line - from the latency on the second hop. Do you get the same latency if you connect with another network?

Hi Afri*
I know this is a bit weird, but I feel like my line still gets shaped after transferring to capped.

My speeds are permanently up and down this whole month!

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/850693321
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/850049485

And then far back in April, still the same problem :/
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/824920524

I don't know why? But it's really unacceptable, I'm syncing at 3mbps, so I don't see the problem..
I can barely even browse the web. I can't watch youtube, download pretty much anything, I can't play and pc games.

My experience with ISP's is if it doesn't work off the bat, then move on, as sometimes, regional issues ruin things but other ISP's don't seem to be affected.

Moral of the story? Find something that works for you ;)

Seems like torrent traffic has been blocked, Milnerton. Whats up?
I also get this on occasions, it just stops altogether.
Normal is 424 KB/s and suddendly 0 KB/s for hours on end, and this can happen over the weekends also.
Then the next day all is well again for a week or so.
I think it's Telkom experimenting on the lines as I wouldn't be surprised if NoChoice is somehow involved here also.

No torrents here too. Just getting connecting to peers. Whats happening AH?

I had a similar problem last night. The speeds were really inconsistent. Fortunately, I eventually managed to get the downloads completed but it took far longer than normal.

Video playback/streaming from ANY site is terrible, youtube, liveleak, etc. Takes ages for videos to load and buffer. :(

Definitely seems quite unstable - but I think we need to test further to determine what could be happening here.

Could you drop me a PM please so I can arrange for more tests?

We're definitely not blocking traffic, could be a regional DNS problem. I know that sometimes when DNS traffic is problematic, torrents come through but no other traffic does. I imagine it can work in reverse if several people in the area experience the same issue simultaneously. If it was an issue on our side, our entire network would feel this as we use one DNS cluster for the whole network.

Sorry to hear this - we'd have to run some tests to see why your traffic is so poor.

Could you please PM me if you're still experiencing this?
