Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Just signed up for this product (20gb+20gb capped) yesterday after 2years of being on MTN 3G Uncapped Lite... Gotta say I'm stumped with adsl!

Our exchange good for only 2mb but was happy as a fly in schit! No more waiting almost for the length of the youtube vid to watch it lmao!

Down speed 1.78Mbps Up speed 0.49 Mbps

Those are definitely decent stats on a 2Mbps. I'm sure Telkom will get around to giving you higher speeds soon - there's so much internet to see and so little time :)

You must be saving a heap on data as well :)

That is what i got on 2 meg line. Upgraded to the 4 meg line and now i get about 2.3. Was hoping to get closer to the 4 meg......sad

Sounds like you may be far from the Telkom exchange - we generally see poorer performance as the speeds are increased :(

The exchange itself could be 40Mbps, but if you're 6-8 km's away then you'll be limited in the performance you would get. On ADSL at least. VDSL - think you need to be under 2km's away from the exchange.

Just some information, I now sync at 20Mbps on ADSL2+
I upgraded to 20 earlier this week thinking it will be VDSL, I have been told by TelkomZA that some exchanges can now handle 20Mbps on adsl2+ But this has not been publicly communicated by Telkom.
You can use the broadband checker to see if your area supports this, but in the end it is dependent on your distance from Exchange and the quality of the copper wires to your premises

Mine has been running stable this week, and the broadband checker confirms my profile as 20Mbps now.
The only difference to VDSL is upload speed, max is 1Mbps on ADSL2+

Have you tested another account to make sure it is definitely Afrihost? I haven't had any problems with throughput since last week.

:mad:Sad to say Beri but I'm in the same boat as you again today. It's been flying most of the day but now 5:04 pm it sucks big time. Pings over 1000 ms and speed <3.0 on a 4 Meg line. I'm only 750 m form the Box adjacent to Builders Warehouse.
