Well its for your network so what would you recommend?

Like I said, it depends on your needs. Some routers are really great for creating multiple SSID's so you can make sure your gaming network get's priority through QoS. Other's are better for Static IP's (if you doing this with us, you'll need an L2TP client authenticated service on the router on a Business account).

Another thing to consider is whether you want to invest in a VDSL router (that is DSL backwards compatible) so you ready for when fibre hits your area (which I've done).

Gaming, video, usual home usage stuff. About 4 devices to be connected over Wifi

Sounds like you're going for a very basic home network. I think the Netgear range is a great option. We offer free delivery and configuration if you order the router from us. We offer the DGN2200, which is a very reliable model (and has some great advanced options when you ready for playing with those settings)

Usually about 14 days, sometimes a bit quicker.

Thanks, and I just go to Cancel service and fill this form in?

Afrihost makes me sad.

Decided I'm going to use my gigs up yet my 40Mbit line looks like a 10Mbit line:

Cancelled my bundle today, so won't have to put up with this much longer. Even if I downgrade to a 20Mbit line I'll see faster speeds than this with my other ISP.

Latency is way up tonight, yet the afrihost website says everything is ok. Also have a friend reporting the same thing.

What gives?

Afrihost, please see to it that your international transit has sufficient capacity please, it's so much cheaper than your IPC for example. IS doesn't give issues getting to Germany:

Whatever they term their shaping, it's obvious that the contention ratio is high.

I'm picking up issues on their intl transit yet again. It's becoming so comical when one has an IS account to compare.

Doesn't look too good at all. I ran some international download tests and I was getting pretty good throughput on torrents. I'll run some further tests to the EU.

How were you running your throughput to get this test?

Latency seems fine until we hit Level 3's network - this is the same network that most SA ISP's peer with in EU. In fact, the destination latency seems to be much higher after you've left their network and reached the content provider network.
