Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Definitely poor. Is local also bad? Until we resolve the capacity issue, it may be hard to measure international performance :(

Services I rely on are internationally based, hosting is internationally based, citrix VPN is internationally hosted, actually there is not anything that I use that I think is locally accessible. International is THE yardstick actually.

We are now in the "or so" period of Greg's "10 days" fluff-piece here on mybroadband.

Afrihost is virtually unusable, for anything not-local perhaps, here in the South... and in fact, just when I think it cannot get any worse, it just does.

I cannot believe this is the same service, the same company I glowingly praised in January this year... there is no correlation between what it believes it is delivering and what is actually being experienced... I kinda hope it is ignorance and delusional PR spin, because it is a sad, sad day if it is an intentional manifestation.

I cannot anymore... This is local.

Every single morning around 01:30 my line is completely dead.

Could someone please assist me? Please.

I don't think its fair showing a "green" network status light on your main page, when clearly if you click on it.. then most of the headings are orange.....misleading.....

I have to say that I was not receiving a 10th of my line speed prior to they so called "IPC upgrades" but since then, my account has been running smoothly and was getting speeds of 2mb/s on my 20mb VDSL line. I am in the northern region. Keep it up!

Edit: Also, is it me or has AH increased their prices without notification?

Amazing how NOTHING has changed since a year ago!! I came across this while looking for recommendations on another ISP.

I wouldn't say nothing has changed. While we experienced a similar spike in demand last year, it took us a lot longer to diagnose and resolve the issue (probably ran into months, as I recall) where we managed to have our IPCs upgraded in a matter of weeks. This was not only due to us learning from the lessons of previous experience, but also some forward planning that allowed us to be more reactive. We definitely had more issues that we would have liked last year, but month on month and year on year we've reduced those occurrences and overall impact continually and gotten a lot better. We'll continue to improve and I think that's a bog point for me. It may be hard to see from outside, but from within the company our people have gained a lot of experience and I think we're continually giving our clients a better and better experience.

So I ran out of data 2 days back. Afrihost asked me if I would like to buy out of bundle data. I agree, and reply to there text messages: 1 Gig. Second text message: "Are you sure?" Yes.
2days later, I have not received my 1 gig of data.
Asked Afriman/Afriguy to investigate. No reply. I guess he couldn't care less.

I didn't receive a PM from you on this. Perhaps you messaged one of the other reps. You're most welcome to PM if you need some help :(

I know PR Spin is the new fob off of choice in this thread, but to spin information is to manipulate it to our advantage. I think we've been very open, acknowledged where we've delivered a poor experience and our challenges as clearly as we can. We've delivered the information as we have it and not manipulated it any way. Some may now have liked what we said, or believed that there was other information (and therefore left out becuase they believed it to be true without substantiation) but that was not the case.

It may be in our interest in that we believe being open with clients is always the right move and ensures a longer relationship with them.

This is pretty strange, sorry that you're having this poor experience. Demand on the network is very low at this time of day. I can't think why your line would go dead, in fact performance should improve if this is a network issue.

How are you measuring the line at that time? Using speedtests or from a service like torrents or YouTube?

Unfortunately the design of the website makes the status green whenever the most recent notice is cleared, although there may be active notices.

We've asked our web designers to find out if we can make this work better. The notice is still definitely active.

Do you mean 2mB/s on 20Mbps?

Which prices do you mean here?

5 days now and still going speedy well, still 3.5 out of a 4Mb line. Stable.

When is the next couple of days like is it a day or two weeks from now? Will it be done before the end of the month? What is the latest date possible that can be given as some sort of measure?

I can't give a confirmed ETA as I have not received this from info. The feedback I have is the next few days (not weeks).
