OK thanks for your feedback much appreciated so then the latest is a week i take it that's good news.
We definitely do, we have ordered the capacity, and now unfortunately we must wait for the capacity to be delivered.
So it your responsibility to plan and manage. I can't believe you want to blame Telkom.
It's like blaming the dog for eating your homework
I don't think we're blaming anyone here.
That would be my view, but let's hope it's how Telkom does it.
Indirectly you actually are, but the reality is that Afrihost are the ones responsible for this momentous cock-up. Not Telkom.
When you saying that you are waiting for Telkom you really are implying that they are to blame, and its indirectly passing the buck from Afrihost.
The responsibility and planing lies squarely at the door of Afrihost. This is why people are pretty pissed off, coz you cant just acknowledge that you have dropped the ball in a big way.
Why is that so hard to understand?![]()
In a perfect world everything progresses logically and nothing ever goes contrary to what is expected. In that way one could plan for demand in a completely predictable way. However that is not how things happen in the real world, in any business. Is there room for improvement? I'm sure there is, and we'll get better as we grow with our own network. However we did the best we could with the information we had and reacted as quickly as possible.
It's a misrepresentation to say that we're "blaming" Telkom. In no way did we say that Telkom are responsible for our planning. Telkom is however the only agency that can deliver IPC, so once the IPC was ordered (or at least the order already planned was fast-tracked) we have to rely on them for delivery. Those are the plain and simple facts. If you're looking to extract layers of meaning from that, that's up to you, but the reality is that we're waiting on Telkom now to deliver the IPC ordered and we believe they'll do so as quickly as possible, according their available resources.
Still not accepting any responsibility for anything. Unbelievable.
No one said we live in a perfect world, and I know exactly how "business" works. Forward planning. Like I said before, you guys walk to close to the line and operate with not enough margin.
We will have to agree to disagree then.
Happy to do so![]()
That's pretty strange, we're getting good reports in the South so far today. Can you show me a trace or anything from your Afrihost account?

Good reports?
This morning my business ADSL was so slow I couldn't even do email and Internet banking took 10 min to load the login page, then I get home only to find my 10Meg unshaped line is only 75% of the way into a 1GB download that has been running for 5 hours.
That had better be a FAT Pipe you ordered as both my lines now run at 10% of what they were six months ago.
If you only double your IPC that still leaves me down at 20%. Not acceptable.
I've done "tests" coming out of my ears the past month. Tomorrow is my last day at Afrihost! Woohoo!!!!
I can't even watch Twitch on ****ing LOW! <==== LOW!!!
and I think what techead is implying: YOU GROSSLY OVERSUBSCRIBED YOUR SERVICE, running on the margins you tried to do is f'ing up your service and it sucks. And all you do is shift blame to Telkom.
It is time Afrihost owns up to this whole cock up. People are going to leave and not come back simply as a matter of principle due to your poor transparency towards customers.
I'm in Johannesburg. Are the capacity issues sorted now?
A lot of thought goes into the amount of capacity we order, based on trends and reports over a long period, month on month and year on year data, to ensure that we have enough but it financially viable.
Generally we haven't seen many clients today reporting poor performance in the South. When did you last test?
UnbelievableWe've discussed this extensively. Being oversubscribed implies that we have too many users or have oversold our bandwidth but our reports tell us that existing users are demanding more bandwidth and demand has growing (is growing) at an exponentially faster rate than new signups. We've been clear and open about this.
Then here's another subscriber in the South with poor performance.
International is rubbish at the moment. Fluctuating madly.
The reason you might not have heard from us Southerners is that we're so blooming fed up with the rotten performance we've had.
