not that it really makes a difference, but which one is it? Coz those two are a contradiction.

No contradiction. Especially when you consider that people stream during peak time time, yet schedule downloads for after hours.

good point here. At a given point during peak, HD streaming is very significant, though overall day on day usage is still much more in favour of torrents and P2P.

I'm curious if anyone in the Cape Region is having issues playing League of Legends on their capped accounts?

I haven't seen any reports as such. What are you experiencing?

This past week has been terrible. My latency is all over the place, and in game my screen freezes and I can see health bars depleting, but everything else is just at a standstill. Evening spectating games my mates are playing is a pain. Its like watching a youtube stream that is buffering constantly. I have yet to test it on another ISP account. I'll try this evening and see.

@Afriman/Afriguy - I'm going to be house sitting this weekend and want to use my Afrihost data. Is my capped account tied to my home landline number?

Nope. Capped accounts can handle up to 10 concurrent connections

BrendanMc is indeed correct, you will simply need to enter your Capped ADSL account details on the modem, and you will be good to go.

Your network Status page now reads:

South ADSL Network Demand Resolved 14:41, 22 Oct 2014
Resolved: 15:00, 30 Oct 2014

Is that confirmation that your new IPC went live at 3PM yesterday?
* If so why could I still not use my connection last night?
* If the IPC is not yet installed why are you showing it as resolved and giving the western Cape a Green Light?

I can now confirm that the IPC upgrade in the South has been completed and is fully online. We are now monitoring its stability, and keeping an eye on current performance levels.

There is a degree of calibration and optimization that needs to occur, you should start seeing improvements on your connection now.

That is indeed good news, thanks AfriGenie, I will test it out this evening and hopefully can get back to my old use patterns again.
My wife has suffered withdrawal symptoms from not seeing her shows.

Lets wait and see. Still getting 14Mb down and 2.67Mb up on a 40Mb line.

It may take a few hours for the speeds to normalize, as our system calibrates the additional bandwidth, but if you do not see improvement, please let me know.

Well mine is acceptable at the moment:

But then I have not been having problems during the day, the real test is how it performs after hours when everybody starts streaming.

Mine has been fine or well more than useable for this week. Perhaps Monday will be a test, though thought it was all the people downloading the new Walking Dead.

Thanks afrigenie. I really am glad and hope i dont sound difficult by saying this but why does the system need to be recalibrated? Like I understand that when the network is under strain that certain things get not shaped but i thought it was something dynamic. Please correct me if im wrong in the way im thinking.

I will test things out tonight though really dont want to leave afrihost hope all is bliss again and that i can finally stream things without buffering all the time.

Now that our system has access to additional bandwidth, the thresholds at which Uncapped accounts are shaped changes quite a bit, this can temporarily lead to some variance in speed as the system tries to find the sweet-spot for network performance.
